|Diane & John||Re: John Loy sponsor|
Thank you for sponsoring my husband's memorial page! That is such a nice gesture for you to make. John did enjoy so much what we did for Find A Grave & thought this site was very well worth the time & effort we put into it.

It looks like we are related by the same guy from Texas. He would be my 4th Great Grandfather.
Oh yeah, I guess I should share my name.... lol
My name is Gary R. I desend from Michael's son David. Who was a Civil War Vet.
Has a Debra Kitchens contacted you about April 23? I guess there's some sort of a Dedication with a memorial marker for Michael Sessom.

Just saying Howdy! I connect to your Alexander WEST, Breckinridge County, KY., branches. Your Branson Monroe WEST was a brother to my William James WEST m. Mary Snyder, their son Felix m. Letitia St. Clair, and their daughter Emma was my gr-grandmother. I have just started doing more research on the WEST families.
|Lynda Lehmann-French||Wallace Ware Thornberry headstone!|
I just read the news article today on the finding of the two headstones! Awesome story!
I am a genealogy buff and came home and found that not only did he serve in the Union Army 3rd Kentucky Calavary, Company D, but so did at least two of his brothers (Bradley Porter Thornberry and Samuel Davis Thornberry), so I downloaded files from FOLD 3 and posted page 1 of the other two brothers files to their findagrave memorial.
One of the brothers did not have a headstone posted at all yet (so did a photo request) and one has a double headstone, but no 3rd Kentucky Cavalry, Company D headstone. Perhaps more headstones fell off a wagon too somewhere.
It would be nice if 3rd Kentucky Calvary, Company D headstones could be placed for his other two brothers. One is buried in KY and other brother in OK also. Just check the brother links for Bradley Porter and Samuel Davis Thornberry's.
Family links all exist on the memorial. So at least 3 brothers served in Company D (same unit).
Neat story and what a tribute to honor their service. So glad the property owners preserved the stones all these years and finally have found the owners of the two stones laying on their property for over 100 years!

The 3rd Kentucky Cavalry was a Union unit! If the stone were a Confederate stone it would have a pointed top and/or have C S A on the stone. The shield on Wallace's stone is only on Union Civil War stones or stones for the Spanish American War.

I noticed this on his memorial "NOTE: I am needing to know if Wallace Thornberry has an existing grave marker in the cemetery. Myself, and several members of the Sons of Confederate Veterans are working to get his military marker, (which was found on a farm several miles away and was in the news) placed on his grave. If you live nearby, please check the cemetery for an existing marker, and contact me. Thank you in advance!"
I don't know if you wrote this or the original owner of the post.... but anyway,
Have you seen the recent news story about the grave stone found on a property in Oklahoma? It is that of Wallace Ware Thornberry. Here is a link to the story.
I have contacted a Scott Thornberry (through another ancestry person) about this as well.
Here is the man's contact information (also I heard he is on facebook)
