Mary Ann Gustin Cuthbert
Hi Mr. Hoot,

I have been doing research for years to find out the true last name of my great grandmother, Mary Ann (married to my great grandfather marshal Gustin) I have their marriage certificate and her last name seems clearly to be Ausman. LDS records agree with that. So many other records show her as Ansman, Ossman, Oreman. It doesn't help either, to know that she seemed to be raised by Lewis Austin ! I just thought I'd pass that along in case somebody else out there is as stymied as I was.

Also, Lovina, listed as Mary Ann and Marshal's daughter, was actually their daughter in law. She was married to my grandfather Lewis Austin Gustin. She died before they were married one year. I have been to Sweethome Cemetery where Lovina and Marshal are buried and I believe the cemetery records show her as their daughter also. However, I have their marriage certificate as well. I just thought you'd like to know.

Thanks, Ellen Gustin Stohr

RE: Laura Maude Griggs Holcomb
Tom, My GG Grandma, Laura Maude Griggs Hoot Holcomb and Myron Newton Hoot's oldest child is Ruby Ann Hoot (b. 30 June 1895 in Des Moines, IA. d. 8 June 1953). Ruby, Edgar & Harry were the only children to Myron Newton & Laura Maude's marriage. As for Ruby Ann Hoot, with her first husband Claudius Duane "Duane" Bridgman, she had one daughter, Dorothy Maude Bridgman (who was adopted by Laura Maude & Louis Holcomb as a baby.. so technically my Grandma Dorothy's maiden name would be Dorothy Maude Bridgman Holcomb. My Grandma Dorothy was the only child of my Gr. Grandma Ruby. My Gr. Grandma Ruby is buried in Glendale Cem in D.M.,IA next to Laura M Holcomb & Louis Holcolm (her mom & stepdad). Ruby's final marriage was to Walt Ingram who is buried at Arlington Cem in VA. So the gravestone for Ruby Ann Hoot Bridgman.....(several marriages not known)Ingram is simply Ruby Ingram or Ruby Ann Ingram at Glendale. Currently Glendale Cem is said to be 95% photographed but so far my Gr. Grandma Ruby's is not listed. I know she is buried next to her mom and her stepdad as my dad has been there a number of times. If I am not mistaken you and I have had one or two email conversations via Ancestry.com and I may have even opened my tree up for you...Lynn (aka: Thunderhollow)

RE: Crughbaugh Gustin
Hi Hoot,
I prefer to use e-mails to fine-tune this. I have no idea why your e-mail to me would have bombed. My e-mail address is sherlock75@comcast.net. I sent you a lengthy e-mail with some of the justification for requesting the changes to the Mary Ann Gustine Crubaugh memorial. Let me know if you didn't receive it. You can respond to it with the reply icon.
Thanks

Charles Henry Gardiner
Hi Tom, Charles (my 3rd ggfather) falls off the record after the civil war and I've never found any info on he and his wife beyond his service in the Civil War. I'm wondering if you are certain he is buried in this cemetery. If so how did you come to know this? Thanks for helping fill in some holes!

Rachel Ann Gustin Wysong
Can you tell me more about Rachel?
Do you have any documentation for her birthdate?
I have a different one.

Also she remarried after John Wysong.

Do you have proof that she is burried in Woodland Cem and Arboretum?

Sincerely,
Linda

Maria Hunter's husband's whereabouts
Tom,

I received this message from this kind woman regarding Maria's husband's whereabouts....

to me
I just recently sent for an obituary for "William Hunter" who died in Wood County, Ohio, 08 Jan 1889, which I am hoping will provide more detail.

Both of William's wives and some of his children are buried in Oak Grove Cemetery in Bowling Green, Ohio, but I noticed some older burials up to 1880 in the extended family of his 2nd wife, Mary Elizabeth (Grannis) McCrory/McCrary (1841-1920), widow of John McCrory (1819-1873), had the notation "moved from old cemetery," so I can't be absolutely certain where William may be buried.

Ancestry.com: Ohio Obituary Index, 1830s-2011, Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Center indicates the "Clyde Enterprise" (Clyde, Sandusky County, Ohio), issue of 10 Jan 1889, page 3, column 2, carried the obituary, and I will e-mail you whatever information it contains when it arrives.
