Last year I spent 3 months traveling Tennessee, Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio and Michigan revisiting many of the cemeteries I had seen in my youth when I first began my genealogy quest.
Yes, I share your enthusiasm for Find A Grave, having only found it myself about 2 years ago. Since then I've been busily adding the many family records I have and also taking as many photographs as time and weather permits. Unfortunately my trip last year was during the spring rainy season, so I didn't get to photograph as many cemeteries as I wanted.
While in Anderson County I met Mary Harris, who worked at the County records dept who had compiled an Anderson County cemetery records books back in the 80s. Then found out that a Robert McGinnis had updated her records and added more a few years ago and his booklet was still in print, so I was able to buy it. So you really have he and Mary to thank for the Norris Gardens records that I entered at Find A Grave.
I first found Find A Grave when I was searching for cemeteries and, whenever I find a new website, I would always put in my two "holy grail" quests - my uncle who left Indiana, family and friends back in 1947 never to be heard of again and my great grandmother. Didn't find Melissa, but I was amazed when not only did Uncle Edwin's record pop up but a photo of his tombstone from Texarkana, Texas!
So, since finding Uncle Edwin and reuniting him with his family (whether he wanted it or not!) I have become a big supporter of Find A Grave. I find it so easy to link family members and add bios, etc.
I would be happy to transfer his record to you if you wish. Or, since I am retired, I can add info for bios or make other links as needed.
You can always ask on Find A Grave for a photo of his tombstone. I know there are several Find A Grave members in Anderson County who like getting out to take photos and maybe someone can help.
