My wife and I have had the genealogy "bug" for more than 40 years. Since retirement, about 20 years ago, it has been almost a full time job (or obsession.) Since we have gathered more than 32,500 names in our data base, new finds are getting harder and harder to find.|
Our latest endeavor, for about 15 years, has been adding photographs to our data base and to Find A Grave. During this time we have traveled literally tens of thousands of miles, covering states from Maine to Kansas, looking for those elusive pieces of granite, sandstone, marble and even homemade cement markers.
On this note I would be glad to make corrections, additions, relationship links, etc. upon request. I will also be glad to transfer management of a memorial according to the following guidelines by Find A Grave.
"Transfer requests should be for DIRECT RELATIVES WITHIN FOUR GENERATIONS, THIS WOULD BE YOUR SIBLINGS, PARENTS, GRANDPARENTS, AND GREAT-GRANDPARENTS. Keep in mind that the original contributor may also be related the the memorial and may not want to make the transfer. You may certainly request the transfer of memorials beyond the four generations, but the original contributor may choose not to transfer (the original contributor should not make any corrections and add any additional information you may have for that memorial, such as links to parents and spouses).
Also, please provide memorial numbers for those transfers you are requesting and your relationship with them.
I hope this doesn't seem to harsh but I have recently gotten requests for transfer of all with the name "Sch???" in the state of Kansas because they are all related!

I will keep the cemetery records as they are in the book or on the marker (some people do not do this). I will clearly delineate notes from external sources so as not to confuse with the cemetery info.

John Gettis Skiles (Memorial #390656000) and his wife Sarah Jane Martin.
I know pretty much everything about their family because they are my 3rd great grandparents and would like to add some notes.

73492414 Stacy Duncan Melvin, would you please consider transferring her memorial to me? I sent a note through the "edit" button, but not sure it reached you. Thank you so much for all you have done for findagrave members everywhere, and I hope you get well soon.
Sorry Ken to hear you have some medical issues. I'll keep you in my prayers for quick healing. Thanks Ruth for your nice message and offer of help. If there is anything I can do to help either of you with computer stuff while you are recuperating, please ask. I'd be glad to assist in whatever I can.

Thank you for responding. I am so very sorry to hear that Ken is incapacitated in his health. I will add him to my prayers for him to heal quickly.
As for Christopher's memorial. The plot # looks like my format so I probably sent it to him. Don't know why I didn't ask for it to moved then. Hard telling... my own brain has been chemo-fried for some time now. I seem to make an extra bunch of errors. Guess I need to give F.A.G. up.
Anyway, ALL of the Section 200's are in Memorial Park Cemetery, Chanute, Neosho, Kansas.
Elmwood Cemetery has 18 other section numbers.

Thank you so much,

Stacy Duncan Melvin is my first cousin. I see that you have entered findagrave memorials for several of her family members and wonder if you are also related? I have a question about the 1860 census and how a couple people listed in it are related to Stacy. Thanks for all you do for findagrave and for researchers everywhere.
