Bio Photo I am a retired lawyer, age 81 in Jan 2014, on Chicago's North Side. Interested in the genealogy of Meigs County, Ohio and Braxton County, West Virginia. I will readily transfer graves that are not my immediate family, and am eager to transfer graves to younger Findagrave users before I become a memorial.

RE: William and Mary Rice Portraits
Thank you so much. I am not related, I was taking pictures for a friend while I was on Kauai. So I took other pictures. I'm sure the family will appreciate it.

Infant Decker
Hi Ronald, I made your suggestions and was so pleased to get them. I discovered the infant in the bio that you wrote when I went looking for it's history and identity. I knew it had to his since he was tucked in next to his mother. Thank you for the info, and yes I ma active in Oakland. My goal is to photograph and link family members of the memorials in exsistance. Once in awhile I come across some that have not been entered. I will happily accept any memorial for Oakland. Would you like the the Decker and McCormick memorials I have created for Oakland?

Smiling...did not know I hit that number! I always DO win when a drawing comes around. At one point I stopped entering drawings because I always won.

Even those who sit by me win if I don't enter!

I really should buy some lottery tickets...

Wink!

Have a good day

RE: Victor Sanborn and wife Louise
Hi Rondald,

I see that in my Find-a-Grave biography of Louise Kirkland Sanborn I have said the following:

"Graceland Cemetery in Chicago has a burial record for Louise Sanborn in 1941 and a record that Victor was cremated at their facility and his remains were "returned to the funeral director who is no longer in existence." It is presumed the marker at Sleepy Hollow is a memorial to the couple, who are buried in Chicago."

Do I need to be more specific and say for certain that I know they are not in Sleepy Hollow? I felt this was enough because it's what the cemetery told me.

Thanks,
Kathy

Johnstone, Graceland Cemetery
Hello Ronald,

I am happy to transfer the Johnstone memorials to you.

My interest in the Allerton family began more than 30 years ago, and came about due to a batch of letters I discovered written by Robert Allerton to the Chicago Institute of Art. I found the five letters stuffed inside a used book in a dusty old store off of Harvard Square. How they ended up in the book is anyone's guess. I hand-delivered them to the museum on my next visit to Chicago, and the curator seemed pleased. I was busy getting though medical school, so my discovery gained me free admission and a free lunch, and was probably the only way I could have afforded either at the time. It wasn't until some years later that I discovered Robert's father was Samuel, who still had quite a reputation as a cattle baron/financier in the west, which is where I am from.

Thanks for the offer of help in Graceland. I've cataloged most of my kin who are there, but it's good to know a member who lives nearby.

Eddie

Ruth Cart Memorial Correction
Hi: I made the changes you requested for the Ruth Cart memorial. I also linked her to her parents. My real last name is Given and I am related to all of the Given family members in Kanawha and Braxton County WV. Interesting that you are a retired lawyer. My later father was also a retired lawyer and worked here in Charleston for the WV Supreme Court of Appeals. He started as a law clerk under his uncle, the late Judge Leslie Emmett Given. All of my family are buried at the Given Cemetery, on Little Sandy, in Elkview WV. We have a few Cart relatives in that cemetery, but I am not familiar with them. My family line comes from the Samuel Given of Augusta County VA. God bless. Rosa
