Walter Sydney Cowan
Oh my goodness what a pleasant surprise to find your website. I was looking for a picture of my Dad to post on Facebook today for Father's Day, when I saw Uncle Walter's name. My Grandparents were Sid and Ann Cowan and my Dad was Norman Edwin Cowan (Ed). Thank you so much for the tribute to Uncle Walter it was beautiful, and the kind words about my Grandparents. They were wonderful people and I, like you remember spending many summers, and cold winters, in Port Carling with them. Wasn't sitting out on the back porch on summer nights wonderful, especially when the campground was there. Going for rides in Grandpa's boat was the best.

I have a picture of our Great Grandmother Matchett which my Dad kept on his bureau and gave to me several years ago. I would love to share it with you if you like and any of the Matchett family who would like a copy. Because Grandma died when I was very young I don't remember many of the Matchett clan. My husband and I did go to a Matchett reunion about 11 - 12 years ago and had a great time. Your Grand Mother (MOM) was Dad's favorite Aunt and he talked about her often.

Keep up the great work it is wonderful to hear about and get to know my family's history. Thank you for all of your hard work.

RE: Matchett's
Darlene
My Mother, Audrey Matchett White turns 86 on the 27 of May. She is the niece of Agnes Matchett and the daughter of Thomas John Matchett her older Brother. Mom has told me that the story you have about Isaac Matchett's cause of death, her Grandfather is incorrect.
Great Grampa Isaac was cutting a tree down and when it was falling hit a branch of a dead birch and that branch fell and struck him, killing him instantly. It was not a lightning strike as you were told. I have been working on the Matchett and White family tree since I was about 16 years old. I am now 56. I guess I am a stickler for detail and accuracy.
Because you created Isaac's memorial I can not correct his place of birth, or connect his Father and Mother to his memorial because I did not create it. Do you know how we can do this?
His Father was also Isaac Matchett SR and his Mother was Mary Jane Hamilton. Isaac JR also had several Brothers one which was John Matchett and he is also my Great Grandfather on my Father's side Hubert Ross White. His Mother Emily May Matchett married John Henry White. Emily was one of several Daughters to John Matchett and Elizabeth Jane Still, a sister to Mary Agnes Still who married Isaac Matchett JR.
I am sure you can now see why I want to be able to connect the 2 Matchett brothers and the 2 Still sisters through Findmy grave and get the story right. I am on Ancestry if you are interest in seeing the information I have. Do you have a family tree program you work with? Talk soon and thank you for your time

I created a memorial for the above and it has been brought to my attention that the memorial, located at Smith Chapel, Collinsville, DeKalb, AL, is a duplicate which I'm going to delete. You had left a message there and I thought you might want to leave it at his actual grave site. He is buried in Hall Cemetery, Collinsville, DeKalb, AL (memorial #96l86048). Sorry for any inconvenience and I thank you for being a Find A Grave volunteer! Pat :-)

I recently found out that Alexander is my great-great grandfather. His son Henry, is my great-grandfather. I was wondering if you had anymore pictures or information of the Xavin family. Until recently, I've had a hard time finding anything. Thank you..
