Bio and Links
Bio Photo I live in Tucson, AZ, which is very far away from my area of interest...mostly Carroll County, IL. I've been working on my family history only since 2009. I picked it up where my late brother left off. He started it ages ago when there were no computers to rely on. Everyone he found was through old family records, interviews, libraries, and cemeteries. He would buy headstones for family members who were buried in Potter's fields or who had only a rudimentary marker. The surnames I'm most closely associated with are White, Woodruff, Rahn, and Miller, all in Illinois but in various counties: Schuyler, Knox, Carroll. My info on the Whites and Woodruffs is sketchy, so I'd really like to find more about them, starting with their graves. My Dad passed away when I was 12 years old, so I never got to ask the questions about his family that have arisen since I began working on genealogy.

I am not in a position, unfortunately, to be able to be a photo volunteer--at least not yet--but my gratitude for these selfless folks is immeasurable. You perform such an invaluable service for this site and your hard work is much appreciated.

***I would also like to thank the caring people who post flowers on my family's memorials. It brings tears to my eyes when I find that someone has visited a member of my family on their birthday or angel day...or anytime. It is so touching and always tugs at my heart strings when I come across these tokens. If I can't thank each of you individually, I at least want you to know how much I appreciate your thoughtfulness.***

My precious puppy Stewart, 4/29/2003 - 1/10/2014

4/16/2015: Today is a very sad day for my son and his girlfriend who lost their precious, beautiful Maeve. She had a wonderful life and was loved very much. She was very special. I fell in love with her the moment I met her.

My thanks to D. Frederick Birely on this site for teaching me how to link family members on my bio page!

RE: Edward Miller, wife & daughter
Sheila,
You are so very welcome.
I also have a correction.
Both my Grandfather and Great-Granfather were named Edward Miller.
Sad to say I never knew either man as they had both passed away before I was born.
Thanks again for the request.

Regards

Edward Miller
Sheila,
This was a great request!! Thank you very much.
First off, yes Grace is buried next to Edward in this cemetery. No need to add a request. I have already posted pictures on her Memorial Page.
With them is also buried their daughter Edith, or Eddie. I have to admit I read that wrong thinking is was a son.
I have also added photos to her Memorial Page.
As a side note, my Grandfather, who was from Oakes, ND, was also name Edward Miller. His nickname, of course, was Eddy. This of course is why I assumed Eddie was a boy.
What fun!!!
Thanks again.
I hope you enjoy all of the pictures.

Regards
DDM

Isee you left flowers on my aunts grave and I think you for that. She was a lovely person.
I also see we are related thru the Schoonhoven name. I haven't dug into it but some day I will. Again thanks for the flowers.

RE: Spnsorship of Maeve's page
You are very welcome. It was an honor. Is she Catahoula Hound? If you have time, look at my Boo Radley's Find A Grave site. The top picture is of Boo and Sahara. Our Sahara (still alive) looks so much like Maeve, I fell in love with her instantly.

RE: Estella and James Woodruff
Estella and my great grandmother Mary Francis (Fanny) both in the front row on the photo are sisters. So we are somehow related by marriage. I'm not very good at figuring out the exact relationship.

Estella and James Woodruff
Hi Sheila,
I'm sorry to hear about Maeve. What a beautiful dog!
The reason I am writing is about your note on Estella Woodruff's memorial. I appreciate your honesty about not wanting to put the Woodruff's grave stone photo on Estella's memorial.
I tried to contact the photographer last Dec. but he never responded. Therefore, I took the liberty of posting the picture myself with a note that the original photo was by John Derry. I may get in trouble with the copyright, but I tried to contact him with no results.
If you are related to Woodruffs, I may be related to you by marriage. Names in my family are Kelly, Tracy, Skiles, and Butler-mostly from Schuyler County, Illinois.
Thanks for all you do.

photo usage request
Hi Sheila,
Sure and thank you.
Have a great day
Bushy

Your request:
I am respectfully requesting your permission to add the headstone photo for Terry James Cunningham (#40950045) to his profile page on my family tree at www.ancestry.com. The memorial page was created by Doris Hines, but you posted the headstone photo. I *always* credit the source when I post *any* photos to my family tree. I appreciate your consideration. Thank you. --Sheila

Stanley Cunningham
sheila, thank you so much for the obituary for my cousin. I never knew he had other children besides Eric. His brother Terry or sister, JoAnne didn't mention them. Maybe they thought I knew about them.
I'm glad you have connected our families. Yes we are related. I haven't been working on my tree for awhile but you have peeked my curiosity again. I'm sorry about your brother. I had two brothers. Ralph was younger by 18 months and Harland Ray is 18 months older than me. He has cancer and it scares me so bad. I don't want to lose him. He always says he's okay.
Stanley's Dad was in the Army. They lived in Ca, Ok, La, and Germany. He was orphaned at about 12 but he stayed with his step father, Owen Stricker. Stan had a heart transplant, in fact he was one the first in LA. I didn't know him other than when we were very young. I connected with his brother and two sisters though.
Again, thank you for any information you have.

Hi Sheila,

It is some kind of strange quirk in the system that allows you to dupe the spouse links. You can't do it on a memorial that you control, only on an edit you are sending to another contributor. I am sure they know about it at find a grave but apparently they don't have a fix for it.
