Family surnames I am currently researching: WININGER/WINEGAR, THORN/THORNE, POULSON, McINTYRE, SANDERS, BRANSON, BARNES, MILLS, CHAPPELL, MACY, PRICE, LANDERS, TUCKER, RENO, GREGOROSKI/GREGOSKI/GREGORSKI/GRZEGOZEWSKI, HARVILL, and SHEPHERD. I was born in Jasper County, Missouri and have 2 sons, who still live there. I have relatives scattered here and there.|
I am continuing research on a particular bit of the history of McDonald County, Missouri (sometimes called McDonald Territory) and have a page concerning their well-known attempt to secede from the State of Missouri, in 1961. (See the link given below.) Thank you to the then-Governor Orval Faubus of Arkansas who graciously offered to accept McDonald County into the State of Arkansas. "After all," he said, "it would offset the "bootheel." Oddly enough, to this day, McDonald County, although in Missouri, remains as a part of the Fayetteville-Springdale-Rogers Federal Metropolitan Statistical Area. To me, the incident provided a fascinating story, which tied in to another interest: philately and cover collecting (local posts).
The Find A Grave site provides a way for me to share a lifelong interest in history, of which tombstones play an inseparable role. I worked in investigations for almost 20 years, so I miss those kinds of challenges. I hope to be of some service as a volunteer, to those involved in genealogical research. While I'm new to this site, I have been doing research along these same lines for some years.
RE-USE OF PHOTOGRAPHS: For now, and subject to revision if such grant is abused, I will grant blanket permission for (you) to use any photograph I have taken, as long as it is for non-commercial use and not for monetary gain, and will be used for your personal documentation only in historical or genealogical research purposes; and will not be re-posted to a subsequent website who as a matter of course, makes claim to legal ownership of photograph(s) uploaded to their site, for their own purposes. Please credit any photos so used as follows: "© Find A Grave contributor # 48190645, used with permission. [SEE: http://findagrave.com]"
Please note that I am most likely not related to the deceased person of memorials I have entered, and no claim of "ownership" is intended. In some instances, creating an online memorial at this site, just felt like the right thing to do, given the time that had elapsed since their passing. I have no way of knowing if there are living relatives interested in doing the work in maintaining such an online memorial. If you would like to have a memorial transferred to you for active maintenance, follow the suggested Find A Grave guidelines and send me a request with the details of your interest and your connection to that person.
Never mind my prior comments on the new quick-edit feature on FAG! The manager of the memorial has to check it; it does NOT work the way I thought it did. I certainly didn't intend to over-burden or cause a lot of work for anyone; I really thought it was an automated process and didn't realize that the changes I was suggesting, including such relatively simple things as plot numbers, were all going back to the original manager anyway. I certainly am not trying to pick on anyone; I was hoping to add information that would be useful to researchers and genealogists. So, Folks, if you would, would you please remember to check your "EDITS" tab on your profile every so often? I have had people tell me they didn't realize they were supposed to. If you do the edits outside of the system, they will still show up on my end as not being done. In other words, if you don't click on the tab, and go through the steps, you can make a correction and it won't recognize that you did anything. So, this is all much appreciated!!
Current number of pending "edits": 891
Thank you to those who have checked and processed your edits! (As of 4 MAR 2014)
Please don't hesitate to send me corrections or additions to any entries I have created. I am a "detail" person and I prefer the records to be correct and precise. If you are requesting changes in any memorial that I have created, please list numbers for those involved and give the details and sources. Feel free to use the "edit" tab at the top of the memorial page in question, to request such changes.

I got to look at 1 of them from Muskogee Library and made copies of some of the stuff at Westville Library
I added the information for the Thorns at Jasper Cemetery you provided. If you would like any of the Thorns I've added, I'll be happy to transfer them.

Memorial # # 123660095
Could you tell me if this is the same Jane who was married to # 5924832 Charles Austin Augustus Rider?
I am researching a possible connection. Also, what could you tell me about the book you listed. Is she in this book? Any other information about her? Last name, parents name, where in GA she lived. Any information would be appreciated.

I went ahead and added your information but the drawing for the Oglesby Cemetery appears to be a little off. Beatrice Hughes is at her daddy's(George W. Hughes) feet. I visit family there often.
