I became interested in genealogy in 1978. I had always been told that if you met someone named Hawpe you were related. So I set out to confirm the story. I was able to trace the HAWPE lineage back to a Rudolph Hawpe who settled in Greenville, Augusta County, Virginia in 1784. There I hit a brick wall and was unable to find the next generation. |
My brother Gary Hawpe got interested and we began tracing the descendants of Rudolph Hawpe. He has a website on our family (Hawpesville) where we have placed the information we have discovered over the last 35 years. As of April 13, 2015 we have identified over 14,520 descendants of Rudolph Hawpe plus spouses.
In September 2009 that brick wall came tumbling down. All it took was one swipe of a swab for DNA testing which was submitted by my brother Gary. Which resulted in finding the Hawpe ancestral homeland and clues to taking the lineage back to the early 1500's.
I joined Find A Grave in February 2010 and have been creating memorial pages for those descendants and their spouses who we have burial locations for. Another big project has been to find memorials of these descendants, created by other gravers and suggest corrections and provide additional information to be added to them and have them linked to the next generation or spouse.
I appreciate all the volunteers who take photos of these graves as they are scattered all across the country.

I made the changes requested and want to keep them with your family since I'm not related. Hope that's OK. Smiles

Thanks for the info on Cathi Lovegrove. I moved my pic to the memorial that was created before mine and I contacted the owner to let them know where her ashes are buried so that they can correctly update her memorial.

|Megan AP||RE: Bliss Family|
Thanks for giving me another layer of Granny's lineage! I was recently made familiar with the info you sent me on her parents although I did not know the horse training portion so thanks very much for that! My Mom always thought they were from Germany because Granny spoke German but the area they are from in France has a very high concentration of the German language. (I'm sure Germany would still like to take that area back.) All the tiniest pieces make for the most beautiful portrait. I appreciate your contribution! Best.

Hello, I see that you manage Oscar Halley and created Billie Halley. I'm wondering how/if you are related to them. Their mother Florence Myrtle Bliss Halley was sister to my great grandmother Maud Bliss. I know very little about her family before she moved to Redlands, CA with my great grandfather. If you are related, is there any Bliss family information you can share? Thanks a million.

|Erlene Best (Bremmer)||Christopher Bryan McPherson "past away"|
Just wanted you to know that Christoph Bryan McPherson past away Find A Grave Memorial# 144122037
Jacob Edgar McPherson (father)
Jacob Marion McPherson and Cora Hawpe (grandparents)
|John Stoutimore||Hattie Clementine Hawpe|
I added an obit to her memorial. The death date is 3/1/1879. The names vary somewhat, but Hattie was a nickname for Harriet, so this could be the same child. If not, let me know, and I'll make her own memorial for her.
|Grave_Walker||RE: Shultz Photos|
Your very welcome for the headstone photos. Also, I appreciate you letting me know about the duplicates..! (Shultz).
This is a duplicate for Edward Alexander Shultz (Find A Grave Memorial# 76730298)only with spelling of Schultz instead of Shultz. Please delete.
I have been adding listings to the Ridge Park cemetery using the old archive lists compiled years ago and when time permits I go out to the cemetery and take photos to confirm their burial in the cemetery. Every once in a while I come across errors in the listings (as we are all human and make mistakes) and manage to make duplicates due to input errors. Most of the time I catch my mistakes but sometime they go un-noticed. I always invite others input and pointing out any duplicates I have made.
Thanks again for your help,
You're very welcome. My parents are buried there, so I go frequently. Glad I could be of help to you. Chris
