Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have been working on my family tree for about 12 years. It is a never ending endeavor and always evolving! It is very fascinating and I have found family members I never knew existed. I live in a tiny community called Sherman, PA, which is on the border of Deposit, Delaware Co. NY. I am researching the Davis, Barnhart, Butler, Castle, Knapp, Morse, Owen, Sanford, Sprague, Sutton, Titch, VanDusen (etc)families, just to name a few. Also, Schumeyer, and for my husband: Karcher, Geer & Quick; and for my children: Parsons, Fuller & Elliott. Looking forward to hearing from anyone who are researching these families or who have any connections to them.

RE: Sprague
I have a friend that is interested in the Rosengrant family. I know we were up to Kasson Brook together and she is interested in the Spragues. I will find out if she knew Rita.

RE: Sprague
I am inclined to believe Hattie divorced rather than died. There is a Hattie Sprague living in Gibson as a servant in 1880. She is married but no husband is listed. She is the right age.

Also:

The Montrose Democrat March 7, 1918 page 2
Mrs. Sprague, mother of Will and Truman Sprague, was buried at Herrick Centre, Saturday, the funeral being held at the Baptist church.

RE: Sprague
No joy at the historial society today.

There is a map of Susquehanna county at the historical society so I took pictures of the Lenox area. I did not see any Spragues (yet) on the map, but there were a number of Halsteads. There are several variations of Halstead listed in Wyoming County and the Sprague and Halstead names are well known in the Nicholson area, which is in Wyoming County a bit south of Lenox. I forgot to get the date of the map but remember being told it is older that 1869, maybe 1855.

RE: Sprague
That Tower cemetery has a map that if you look closely shows A, J. Sprague with a plot. Since we know that he is at Kasson Brook it stands to figure that Hattie or a child may be buried in Lenox. I wonder what the stars stand for.

Also there are a couple of Hallstead names on the map but no grave listed on findagrave. I think you need to seek another source for that cemetery other than findagrave.

RE: Sprague
I have a lot of luck with this site:

https://familysearch.org/search/

If you go to this site and access the 1860 Susquehanna Lenox census, it is like scribble but on page 45 of 48 the family living next to the Spragues are Holsteads. The Holsteads have a three year old daughter, H. Holstead. I would say that it is a good bet that that is Hattie.

there is a marriage with Hattie listed as mother. William Sprague, born in Lenox, on this site.

Hallstead
Do you know that there is a town called Hallstead? I always think of it as being in the general area of Montrose and up the road a bit from Lenox. You may be able to get something from the Susquehanna County Historical Society, I am sure Halstead is a fairly well known name up there.

I went to school with some Spragues and there was a teacher at Tunkhannock named Sprague. Have you been in contact or done any research at the Wyoming County Historical Society? I can take a quick look in there for you tomorrow, if you like, as I plan on going in for a couple of hours to work on my research.

Sprague
Montrose Democrat November 23, 1899 page 2 Hopbottom News - Mrs Carmon Sprague and daughter Maybelle, visited relatives here recently.

Montrose Democrat August 2, 1900, Page 2, Widows Inventory - Carmen Sprague, late of Lennox, dec'd

Montrose Democrat February 15, 1900 page 2 Lenox,
Post 85, of Glenwood, and Camp 169, of Lenox, attended the funeral of Mr. Sprague, in a body, Saturday

My only interest in the Sprague, so far, was in satisfying the request for Forkston Cemetery. I think I ran across the paper article and knew you would be interested.

Have you seen the picture of the stones in Lenox?

I will keep my eyes out for Hattie. I have been going through a lot of papers, maybe I will run across it. I couldn't find an obit in the Montrose paper, but if you can access those papers you may find more.
