RE: josephene zimmer
When there are duplicates, Find a Grave will keep the original and merge any information that exists on the two records. That is why we have edit functions, to add to memorials, instead of creating a duplicate record.

I've had to delete a lot of mine that turned out to be duplicates, and it's a pain, but now I just make extra sure there isn't already an existing record before I go and add an individual.

Thanks,
Julie

New Bethel Cemetery
I have only taken random headstone photos from this cemetery as we were looking for family one day. Stewart is a name in my husbands family line is why I took Kates.

RE: sarah prather goldsmith
The cemetery office has her listed as a Johnson. I would list her husbands in the bio because that was who she was. I would also change her last name to Johnson, since that was the name she had when she died. That way others can find her too. The only way I found her was looking at the cemetery ledger book for that date. Highland Cemetery does not have her listed as a Goldsmith. Thank you.

James A. Goldsmith
The more I look at these men, I am being convinced that we are looking at two different James Goldsmith's.
1. James Goldsmith son of Robert and Sidney Alcinda Moore Goldsmith
2. James A. Goldsmith son of Jacob and Susannah Goldsmith. Family still in Harrison co. in 1870.
All were in Harrison Co., VA(WV) at times, & both had children by the names of James & Mary. Both James's served in the Civil War.
1. James Goldsmith md. 2 X, first to Catharine Jarvis & 2nd to Deborah Marks 9th VA Vol. Inf. from Calhoun Co., VA(WV), this is the same company that my gt. grandfather & his brothers served. Deborah Marks-Goldsmith was listed as a widow when she remarried in 1876. Believe this James died in Civil War about 1864.
2. Your James A. Goldsmith md. & came back to KY where he was found in the 1890 Veterans census in Owen Co., KY. Pvt Co D, 11th VA Inf enlisted 1862 honorably discharged 26 Oct 1865.

Goldsmith
I find a Mary E. Goldsmith, age 21 who married Marcellus Lorentz, age 21, in Harrison Co., WV marriages, 30 Nob. 1865 by Rev. Williams. Her parents were listed as Jacob and Susannah Goldsmith and Marcellus's parents as Ransom and Elizabeth Lorentz.
Mary E. Goldsmith, age 15 was listed w/her parents [Jacob & Susannah] in the 1860 Census of Harrison Co., VA(WV).....in 1870 Jacob & Susannah are still in Harrison Co. but by that time Mary E. had married & gone West. Jacob & Susannah had at least 12 children...
Okay - checking the 1870 Ralls Co., Missouri Census, I find M. Lawrence and wife Mary. 3 children: Anna, William & Turner. Also in household is a 35 yr old Jas or Jos Goldsmith, all b. VA(WV) except for the infant named Turner, age 4 mo.
Inquiry??? 18 July 1843 Harrison Co. VA Marriage for Turner L. Goldsmith & Susannah Perine dau. of William Perine. Is Turner Goldsmith the same as Jacob Goldsmith??

Sorry, as far as I know Sidney Alcinda Moore Goldsmith is the only Goldsmith buried at Cottrell Cemetery, Oka, Calhoun Co., WV. I have that she and Robert Goldsmith had 12 children, your James being the oldest son, but I do not know where he is buried. There is a little Goldsmith Cem. on Mud Fork in Calhoun Co. perhaps James is buried there in unmarked grave.
