I live in Oregon and started my genealogy hobby in 1976. That lasted for less than a year, and then I started again in the winter of 1998. I'm not a professional, but monitor, and have volunteered to answer some easy questions and requests for Multnomah County, Oregon, at GenForum and RootsWeb. I'm a member of the Genealogical Forum of Oregon, in Portland.|

I treat each headstone photo with the same care as mom did for the annual family Christmas card for relatives and friends. We all had to look our best, had several photos taken, and she chose the best photo for the card. I try to give you the best photo possible. I know how important it is to be able to read all the text on the headstone, especially if you are the family genealogist, looking for a name for an initial, a date you don't have, or the name of a spouse or child.
Find A Grave allows space for 5 photos to be loaded on each memorial for free. Therefore, I try not to upload more than 2-3 grave marker photos so there is room for you to load photos of family and documents. If you need more room for photos, please contact me and ask me to remove a photo so you have more room.
If anyone would like to use any of my grave marker photos, please contact me for permission.
Regarding requests for transferring memorials I've created, but are not in my family, please contact me, and include your member name and member number.

I should have said you have him in Willamette National Cemetery 3905210

I also added a grave record for Hershel Noel Kindred. Only I had him at Memorial cemetery in Albany, Oregon by error. I changed it to Memorial National Cemetery in Portland then saw you already had him their with a photo of his grave site. You had added yours in 2000. I in 2009, so I went ahead and deleted my entry. Hershal's father was Albert Kindred 117504009. I submitted the edit for review. Thank you for photographing his grave site. I knew him when I was a little boy. His Aunt was my great grandmother.

Thank you for pointing that out.
I have deleted the Giffen memorial.
When I first started researching my family someone had misspelled the name Griffin, causing even more confusion. I also double checked with the death certificate, which showed his birth as Canada, Nova Scotia.Thanks so much for catching that.
Hope you have a great new year.

I'm not a family member, either but I hope that you can eventually transfer it to a relative. I've photographed cemeteries before and I know it's hard work. Thanks, Jan

|Jennifer Hamilton||RE: Mattie V Buckingham/husband Ralph|
This is a confusing one. In the western marriages database, there's an entry that Mattie V Buckingham married a Hodgson in Idaho in 1926 which is the same year that Ralph is supposed to have died. Because I'm such a novice, I'm wondering if I need to leave this alone and wander back to my own family tree. It's hard to resist a good mystery, though. Jen

I wonder if this is her Ralph? 60416926. According to 1 family tree on Ancestry, he was born in 1893 and died in 1926. Jen #48357593

Wow! You really did add a lot of info. Thank you for that. My relationship with Mattie is tenuous at best. She was my dad's great-uncle's sister-in-law.
As I find clues on Ancestry, they lead me to other families which is how I found her. Then I start connecting people on Find A Grave. I've been working on the Yarbrough family and was surprised to find that a group landed in Portland. I've always thought of us as a southern Oregon family. It's also interesting that there are quite a few extended family members there in Lincoln Memorial. When the weather gets better/warmer, I'd like to come across the river and take a look around. Thanks again. Jen

Are you related to this couple?
|Seid||RE: Dip Gay Seid, Memorial# 110837612|
Thank you for the photos. I'm there once a year or two and am surprised I never did that myself. I did it for my mother who is right next to him. I don't know why I neglected to do his.
