At this point in time, regretfully, I will only claim requests for (Old) Tacoma Cemetery (not New Tacoma) or Mountain View (Lakewood) Pierce County, WA. |
NOTE: I do not automatically approve corrections as I have found that some that are suggested are not correct.
NOTE: Per F.A.G. rules, I do not add full obituaries. If you want to edit it and send it to me, I'll add it if it fits the sites guidelines for adding obituaries. Sorry.
A REQUEST - if you would call and get the location, it would be appreciated and add it to your message when requesting or ask the owner of the site to post it in the plot field.
If you find any errors, duplications or bad photos (covered with debris or moss) that I have taken, please let me know and I will do what is appropriate. Some memorials don't photograph well but I try to get the best shot of them.
My family tree includes the Ritchey (Richey,Ritchie?), Temperley, Molinder and Stenborg lines and has expanded from there to include to many to mention here. The Ritchey history begins with Memorial 58729129. At this point the Temperley line begins with Memorial 18962125 but hopefully more to come. And the Molinder history begins with 66797509. If anyone has any additional information about these lines, please feel free to contact me.
If you are a relative of any of the names I have entered other than my own family line and would like them transferred to you for maintenance, make the request through the EDIT button on their site then the Suggest A Correction link and copy your site ID into the message as it makes it much easier for me to then transfer.
Thank you....and enjoy this addicting site.

I live <5 miles from Tahoma and I go over regularly. I have never found an error in either the on-site database or in the VA's national cemetery locator. If you haven't used the VA link, I can send it to you. It's a valuable asset. There's another duplicate in there caused by misspelling (Hickman vs Hichman?). I sent the owner a note 3 weeks ago. I move 7 Blanchard's to MA yesterday, plus 2 to other national cemeteries. I'm going thru these in order starting with the low-hanging fruit. I'll send you all of yours, but really appreciate any help on the rest of them. There's another user that can't spell. I wish there was a search function by just dates. In the case of "Unknown Unknown", I wonder if find-a-grave would intervene on my behalf.

You can view all 237 memorials that a) don't have a photo and b) are not in the VA's database for Tahoma under my virtual cemetery titled "research required". I started with 255, so I'm making progress. I just asked the owner (gone gravin) of "unknown unknown" with a birth year and a death date to either add information or delete it and the response I got is unbelievable. I understand standing behind your work, but that work is garbage. They saw no need to delete, but want me to info if I have it. Speechless.

I didn't find either of these people in Tahoma Yakima or Tahoma Kent. Yakima has its own website and I use the VA for Kent. The concept of adding by obituary is a solid idea, but I'd say 10% of them don't end up that way for whatever reason. I'm sure most of those are sitting on the fireplace mantle at the spouse's request, or at least I hope that's the case. So what do we do with a memorial that is, say 5 years old, and hasn't made it to the cemetery?
For this person I also checked the Tahoma Cemetery in Yakima because she died in Yakima. She hasn't made it to Tahoma Kent. Any suggestions?
I'm working to cleaning up Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent and I've started with those memorials without photos and not in the VA database. I've googled obits and checked Ancestry.com without finding a final resting place. Does your record indicate where Richard ended up? Thanks.
|CD||RE: Peter Holden and Agnes Hay|
Yes, I have Jeanne Bingham Holden in my tree. I have been able to find documentation for her grandfather (and my 4x great grandfather), David Holden, with his parents names - Peter Holden and Agnes Hay. I've searched all the trees on ancestry.com referring to them but none have sources. So I'm try to find sources for them - that's the brickwall.
