RE: Abagail Coffin
Well then we are long distance cousins. I descend from John Coffin as well.
There are several books that are very interesting about the Coffin family. Though not directly about them they show what life in the time and place was like. Interestingly they are by the same author.
One is "In The Heart Of The Sea" the true story about the sinking of the whaler the Uss Essex that was the inspiration for Melville's "Moby Dick'. The second is "The Mayflower", same author dealing with Miles Standish, the captain of the Mayflower and how it came to be that he had Nantucket. The third is "The Barbary Coast". This book has nothing to do with the Coffin family. However the USS Essex is and shows how old the boat was when it set sail for the whaling grounds in the pacific ocean.

Abagail Coffin
I saw that you left a note on Abagail Coffin's memorial. I believe that a mistake has been made regarding her parents. Here is the proof of what I believe to be her correct lineage.
