RE: monument
Hi, Cousin!

You and Kathi are distant cousins through your Stotts line. Stella is her 1st cousin, three times removed. I had a feeling you might be related. Kathi is related to about 90% of those buried at Sharon Chapel.

So you would like the stone lifted, the old concrete taken out and replaced, and the stone reset. Right?

We photographed the cemetery a couple of years ago and it didn't look too bad. At least the stone was solid and sitting straight. Better than MANY of them!

I'll make a couple of phone calls and will get back to you.

See ya!

Hi, Dixie!
Yes...we live in Harrison County. I don't know of anyone off the top of my head but could probably make a few phone calls.

Out of curiosity, who is your grandfather and what needs to be done with the stone?

See ya!

Please remove the flower with genealogical data from this memorial and advise if you would like it added to the bio. According to instructions
genealogical data is not to be placed with flowers and we should respect this. Flowers are only to show love and respect for the deceased. Genealogical info belongs in the bio of the memorial. Thank you, Louise

The message with a flower you recently placed on this memorial is genealogical data that can be added to the bio, but does not belong with a flower or token of love and respect. I will be glad to include in the bio, if you would like, but please remove from the flower.
Thank you, Louise

Mathew Anderson Dukes was the brother of my 2nd great grandfather, William Charles Dukes Sr. Mathew's first 4 sons are the only ones that dropped the s at the end of Dukes. Family oral history says that they thought they might inherit some of the North Carolina tobacco Duke fortune, but it was not meant to be. No proof has ever been found that we are closely related to that family.
another Family oral history is that when Laura Malissa, Mathew's first wife died Mathew said "Now there is only 1 why do we need the S? This to me seems highly unlikely...I bet we will never really know why White, Walker, Wilson & Coulter dropped the s at the end of Dukes...

RE: duplicate memorial
Here is a tip, now don't take this wrong...When you see a memorial, and you KNOW it is in the wrong cemetery, the right thing to do is contact that contributor and tell them them to move that memorial to the correct cemetery. NOT to create a newer memorial...
Please use the edit feature on the memorial you are referring to, and I will transfer.
