New "Automated" system for "Suggest A Correction/|
Submit an Edit" process deployed by FindAGrave on 12/5/2013
Go to your Contributor/Profile page. Look in the upper right corner. You will now see a tab called "Edits" - check there to see if any have been submitted to you. Then just review and accept.
A much easier way for doing updates to names / dates / places / plot #s.
You still will get e-mails to add info to bio section or do linking.
For almost thirty years I have been involved in genealogy. When my mother died, she left some notes about a few ancestors she had uncovered and hoped I would continue her research. That was the hook-in-the-jaw that changed my life. I only regret that I have missed out on so many years that I could have used. Alas, all those family stories that went in one ear and out the other, and all those family members who took so much information to the grave with them.
I am, however, thankful for the tools that are now available and for FindAGrave, a platform that I have spent many hours gaining from and contributing to.
If I have created a memorial for a member your family, who isn't related to me, and YOU CAN ADD INFORMATION TO THEIR BIO (not just family links), I will be glad to transfer it to you. However, many have received a transfer/transfers & have never added anything. This isn't fair to kin who may come along later who can do so.
An exception to the above are my Bell, Dodson, & Love ancestors and kin, most of whom have numerous descendants. Much of the information contained in their memorials is the result of many years of tedious research, and as new information comes to light, I would like to be able to make those changes. For these memorials please follow FindAGrave guidelines for transfers.
I will no longer respond to transfer or up-date requests that are sent to me on the Message Board. Requests sent this way many times have errors and often slow things down.
Instructions for ALL REQUESTS for corrections, additional information, or transfers:
1. Go to the memorial page, which has an "Edit" tab located on the upper right side of the memorial.
2. Click on the "Edit" tab, then click on the Suggest a correction or provide additional information link, which opens a message page.
3. Type in your message.
Making a request this way insures that no mistakes are made, because it takes me to the exact memorial.
Please do not post actual death certificates on my memorials. Instead, send the information shown on the certificate, & I will add it to the memorial.
Thanks for your understanding.

Virginia, I want to thank you for adding the obituary to Jennie's Find A Grave memorial. Her brother was my great grandfather. His parents only had 3 children and were immigrants from Ireland. I have been tracing my Lumsden genealogy for over 30 years and have only been able to find information as far back as my great great grandfather (Jennie's father). Any additional information I am able to read about regarding these relatives is a treat for me so thank you for adding more information to what little I have. Lori Lumsden Smith

Ths nks Yuri our so much for adding his obituary. He was my great grandfather. I did not have a copy of his obituary. Are you related. I ask only because I know he remarried but I do not know her name.
Thank you for the transfer

In case anyone is interested, the list of prisoners from Martin's Station includes Thomas and Elizabeth's children. It is at http://www.frontierfolk.net/ramsha_research/captives.html.
It's an interesting read on the Revolutionary war for those related.

Yes... like it except that more and more people send edits without documentation or sources. Just wait when you get them they are posted and 6 months later another poster challenges the info and you have no source or documentation. After 13 years believe me it gets challenging and you don't want to just change and change without proof and new family history buffs get angry because they want you to take them at their word..It's getting a little silly at times. Good thing I'm patient and do this because I love it and love helping people. God, please help me be patient. LOL

You're welcome. Yes it does help! :)
I must say I have been impressed with the work you have put into the memorials for these two families. It is obvious that you really care about "bringing to life" the family member represented by the memorial with as much information and photos you can find. Thank you very much.

No problem with being embarrassed...when it comes to keeping the memory of my family and friends in Morgan County, I work hard and if there is a computer glitch I take it in stride. My Mother's first cousin was married to the grandson of John Goodman and I remember her so well. Howard Cade Goodman died in a fishing accident in the Sacramento river and my goal was to honor him and his family because I have very nice memories of his wife. Also I was born down the road from them and remember the Goodman's as a child.

Sounds good to me too.
So we have put it to a vote & the I's have it!
Another thing!! Buddy was listed as 3 years old in his first census. Ans on his enlistment he showes himself a year older. I wonder if he changed his birth date to enlist?
You would think the VERY first census could br correct. Especially if he's only 3.
BUT, I'm NOT going to bother with him RIGHT now! I have enought to try to figure out with the rest of this family. That's why I take breaks, so my head can get a fresh look on it.

Virginia, once again you are leaving lots of information for me. Thank you for the info on the Schmittou family. Where did you find your pictures? In that wonderful Jack History Book? I really would love to fly out there and make copies!!! Thx
