Hello everyone, my name is Lisa, and I enjoy cemetery hunting in my home state of Florida. Long time advocate for cemetery preservation and recording the history of cemeteries in the US and Canada.
Currently I am researching and gathering information from cemeteries in Volusia County Florida, Western North Carolina, Eastern Tennessee, Northern Kentucky, the Western area of Virginia, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Vermont and New Hampshire. If you notice a mistake or have further information you would like added to any grave I have added PLEASE let me know, I will be more than happy to change or add anything. I am also happy to transfer listings to family and friends who want to keep them up to date.
I have a lot of time on my hands at the moment. This also gives me a lot of time to research pictures and travel to cemetery's. Please keep it nice when you comment to me. I swear I'm a nice person.
If you are a family member or friend who would like the listing transferred to you please use the edit tab on a memorial to leave me a message. I will respond to you as fast as I can, but no later than 1 week if I am on another work project.
I'm really not picky about who I transfer a memorial to since I am not related to most of the people in the memorials I have added. I don't really follow the rules for transfers on Find A Grave and would much rather see someone who knew the person maintain the memorial.
If you are sending information to me to add to a listing I am more than happy to add anything you want. Same rules apply as before that I will update the listing as fast as possible but no later than 1 week.
If anyone has pictures of some of the stones I have posted please feel free to add them as this would be an amazing help. If you want to add family pictures do that also. The only thing I ask is that midi files be kept to the comments area if you want to leave that.
Any of the grave pictures I've taken and added are free for you to take and use.
If you are requesting I take the picture please let me know if you have a general idea where the person is buried if it is in a large cemetery. If you don't that is ok too, I can get the info if I need to. *********************
I hope to talk to other people out there about the fascinating worlds of history and genealogy.
additional information on memorial Hello Lisa: I appreciate you good work! I am researching members of Civil War soldiers that served in the Civil War in the US Signal Corps. One of the Memorials that you manage is Dr Charles S Taft who was the Chief Surgeon of the Signal Corps during its existence during the war at Georgetown DC and was one of the attending Doctors at Lincolns death. It was stated in you bio of him that he was a field Doctor whenall of his actual service was in the Georgetown, DC camp of instruction of the Signal Corps. Please, at your convenience, correct the bio and attribute his actual service to the Signal Corps would be much appreciated. You have my very best regards for all the wonderful work you do in memorializing those that served, Wayne Augustine, Chicago, IL
I was a friend of Jonathan's, and was at his funeral. First of all, thank you for including him on Find-a-Grave. I noticed you had the burial listed as "unknown." Jonathan was buried in the Riverside Cemetery in Lincoln, NH. I hope that helps.
Memorial transfer request Hi Lisa, I should have asked in my previous message to get the memorial for Dorothy Caroline Huguelet, Louis Huguelet Jr's wife, transfered to me as well. She is my great aunt. Memorial #95946081.
Thanks again for your consideration of these requests.
Memorial transfer request Hi Lisa. Would it be possible to get memorial #95945552, Louise Emil Huguelet Jr, transfered to me. This is my great uncle and I would love to be able to maintain his memorial.
Margaret Jane Martindale Find a grave # 98800711. You have added a picture of Margaret and her husband William. I was wondering if you are related. Margaret would have been my great Aunt. Thanks for any information you may have. Ethe Gore.
Changes to a cemetery name Hello, I found the burials you had listed in Italy, including Rosa Cleveland (sister of the president). I just wanted to pass on the info regarding the name of the cemetery where she and a few others are listed. It is not the American Anglican Church Cemetery in Lucca, Italy. Instead it is the English Cemetery in Bagni di Lucca, province of Lucca, Toscana, Italy. The cemetery was founded in 1840 after a couple requested permission from Duke Carlo Ludovico of Lucca to build an Anglican church and cemetery for the many English who frequently came to the town for the hot springs. I have a few others buried there that I want add, but noticed the issue with the cemetery name and place. Thank you for getting these individuals online. There are 139 burials there, the last in 1953. Thank you for the work you have done on this site.
RE: Oaklynn Cemetery Hi Lisa, Thank you for your help.. Was the county able to give you a list of the burials? We are trying to find deeds for the plots, but that's going to be a long job as nothing is indexed. So far we have found nine veteran's graves including a couple that no one knew were there. I have to post a lot of new names and pictures but I'm not 100% sure how to do so. Thanks again, Paula
My message for a suggestion on this was directed at the person who submitted the photos as I don't believe they are photos of this cemetery. When I look in the death records online for Ralph James it states he is buried in the High St Cemetery in Hampton, NH. There are some others photographed by Amy that are also not that cemetery. I've been trying since early 2013 to get her to contact me about where they are supposed to be from with no response.
Anyway, if you want help with the death records to find these let me know and I can help you find where they really are.
Oaklynn Cemetery Lisa A group in Edgewater, Volusia County, FL is working to clear Oaklyn Cemetery. This cemetery is totally overgrown and most of the crypts have been vandalized. I noticed on this site that in 2004 you located many graves that we cannot now find. I wondered if you had information about the cemetery and where those plots might have been located. Any information would be greatly appreciated. We have people who have parents and grandparents buried there and cannot locate them. The cemetery is on privately owned land and the owner locked these families out in the 1960's. It is only recently that they have been allowed to go in and begin the cleanup. Thank you very much, Paula
