RE: Carrie Pritts Berkey
I had my 4th surgery in 20 months to repair the meniscus 3 weeks ago. While the surgeon was in there poking around he discovered that the ACL repair he did last year didn't take. I guess it's time for a total knee replacement. Despite the pain, that doesn't keep this 'ol Soldier from stomping around the cemeteries!

My Bio
Thank you for your very kind words. I love helping other people, and I am willing to transfer almost any memorial if I believe the other Find A Grave member can add more information; the memorial does not have to bed in the members direct line.

Thank you for taking the time to drop me a note.

RE: your note to Craig
Love it, Georgia! How sweet and enduring. Keats is one of my very favorite poets. I came across what I posted on Craig's memorial (Keats' quote within a quote) last year in a memoir that I was reading.

Illinois Cemetery
That's my problem - we were looking for another cemetery, but the fog was so thick, we were using GPS to get to Craigtown Cemetery.

This little one popped out of the mist & my driver & I hopped out to see if our crew was there, but had to take right off because the lead car was going on without us. They wanted to film a segment for the production company before the rains set in bad. How I wish we could have stayed - I have not been able to magnify the pic enough to make out anything on the stones in it. ~Shirleen

An Old Relic
Thanks for the note on my relic photo - I think I put it up a year or so after being in Illinois.

I am not a very good photographer so I try to make up for it in research. That cemetery was unknown to me and we were in such a hurry to finish the project, that I even failed to get any data - a film crew of young pros were dragging me along & I couldn't hold up their progress!

During our road trip, the foggy mist had set in & can you believe the tiny (about 200' X 200') site appeared - out in the middle of a grain field, surreal, unkept and the natural wildflowers & craggy trees left all on their own; wish I could have surveyed it! ~Shirleen

Coffee in Heaven

Sweet Georgia,

There is most definitely coffee in Heaven. I can see dad and Beansie happily raising their cups for seconds as mom passes by with the percolator. I remember so many parties with my parent's friends drinking coffee and eating Italian pastries from the bakery. All the ladies (wearing red lipstick) complaining about their waistlines and the men reaching for seconds and thirds. Wouldn't it be nice to think they can still enjoy each other.

There has to be a happy ending, I can't believe otherwise for our wonderful parents.

:-)

William Wright

Georgia,

I just received notification that you sponsored William Wright - or dear Beans(ie). I can't believe how you remembered this sweet man and that he was a dear friend to my father.

Thank you Georgia, I am so touched. Beasie was just as kind as his gentle face and he was one "of those guys". The kind of man his family and friends could always count on to do the right thing. These men are so rare now.

Thank you Georgia, you are such a sweetheart!

RE: Margaret Landis/have requested obit. to be posted
Hi,

Oh gee, thanks for a quick response and your research efforts. Just checked Find A Grave for Joseph and Margaret I and see you've already made the links, so all I can do is thank you! And especially thanks for the obits of William and Margaret.

I noticed Rosy's obit also appears in the Myersdale Library Special Collections Project. If you got it from there, I wonder again if whoever typed up the obit from there made a mistake. It says the obit possibly came from the Meyersdale Republican.

Obit do have errors. Was annoyed with my half-sister when she gave the wrong maiden name for our grandmother's mother when she (grandmother) died. And this was only in the 1990s, so ... people do make mistakes. Also wonder whether Magdalena (instead of Margaret) is wrong or just a middle name. She's Margaret or Maggie in the census records I've seen.

Anyway, thank you so much for your efforts. Perhaps in Rosy's entry you can simply note that the obituary is incorrect; that she was the daughter of Joseph Landis, not Peter. Otherwise, it looks as though you've made the mistake, not the obit.

Take care.
