I have been pursuing genealogy for about fifty years researching numerous lines in Texas and all other southern states. My Smith family was located in Stephen F. Austin's 2nd colony and 4th colony. My Dyches/Dykes/Dikes line was located in Zavalla's colony. |
If you find any mistakes, please advise and I will correct ASAP.
I've added certain memorials that I accidently took pictures of that are not my family or connection. If you find one, I would be more than happy to transfer them to you. Let me know. If I have added directs for you, I would be happy to transfer them no matter what generation if they are not directs for me.
The obits that I have been sending out are gems found in the old newspapers. Hope they add some background. Any picture that I have added to any memorial, you are welcome to copy.
Researching Whitmire, Dyches, Fish, Bennett, Smith, McWhorter, McClure, Ballew, Stribling, Farr, McGinty, Bowles.
PLEASE FEEL FREE TO ADD FAMILY PHOTOS, GRAVE PHOTOS, CEMETERY FHOTOS TO MY MEMORIALS BUT PLEASE do not ADD PICTURES OF DEATH RECORDS, WAR RECORDS OR OTHER RELATED GOVERNMENTAL RECORDS TO THE MEMORIALS. THIS INFORMATION BELONGS IN THE BIO SECTION.

|PATTY McFERREN-BLANTON & JR BLANTON||General Loranza Whitmire|
Hi! Patty McG: Both of them are in the same place. One is erroneously listed in Lake Toxaway. They arfe both near Middlefork, south of Rosman.
Old Toxaway Cemetery <---DON'T USE
Also known as: Old Toxaway Baptist Church UPPER Cemetery is the "closed" cemetery, and the person who put in the records has a very restrictive message on the cemetery profile page. It is an "inactive" cemetery, right next to the other one.
It is at: http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=cr&CRid=2474018
Old Toxaway Baptist
Church Cemetery <--USE THIS ONE
It is known as the LOWER cemetery.
North Carolina USA
Here again, these are both on the road going past the Rosman dump toward the Wilds (and another) camp, south of Rosman. Neither are anywhere near the town or Lake of Toxaway! These are about 15 miles away down US 64 west!
The website for this cemetery to use is:
Dawn J McCall claims to "own" the info she had put on the Upper cemetery's website (she says copyrighted). Her husband, Kenneth Eugene McCall, is buried in the LOWER
cemetery: Find A Grave Memorial# 91853111.
So, until we know any better and using that Ancestry.com family tree as a reference that I sent earlier, you could put General Loranza Whitmire in the LOWER cemetery, along with Kenneth McCall :)
|Freddie Bowman Wells||RE: Jennie Bowman Casselli|
No need to transfer don't know them jus researching the Bowmans in Texas findagrave and found several duplicates. Just trying to help with the records.
|Freddie Bowman Wells||Jennie Bowman Casselli|
Memorial #67493626 has a duplicate #104083873 it would be good to join the two for more information. Thanks for all the work you do
|Ruth Smith||Absalom Buck|
Patty: i just sent an edit to add the parents of Absalom Buck - William S. Buck and Rebecca Pippin Buck are buried at Mazarn Chapel Cemetery in Arkansas. Actually Absalom Buck's name is on their stone because the family placed that memorial with all the names of the children on it. WE were glad to find where he is actually buried. Thanks. Ruth Smith

"no", I have no reason to request control of their memorial but thanks anyway.
As to being scatterbrained due to the fresh air in Houston, that's a funny one. HA !!!
In my younger years, I lived in the Bellaire (graduated hi-school there) and Sharpstown areas, growing up and my wife came from the oil refinery area of Pasadena, we are well aware of the fresh air, or lack of I should say..
To this day, every time I go back, as soon as I hit the city limits I get a severe headache and it stays with me until I cross back over the line. I know it's psychosomatic but it happens none the less.
Appreciate the compliments on Precious, yes, she is a wonderful traveling companion and her passion, as is mine, is walking around cemeteries.
Its a good way to get that much needed exercise and at the same time pay-it-forward a little for the people who can't do their own research.
Later, James Coston

|AFMSgtRet||James Lott Miller, memorial #7322143|
I've posted your edit request, changing Mr. Miller's date of birth from 1834 to 1830. Because the date of birth on his headstone is different, I suggest that you send supporting data for the change because someone else may send an edit request to change it back to that which is on the headstone. Thanks.
Wanted to ask if your research on the above Cty, surname...McWhorter, would be on the Texas McWhorter families for Upshur County, Texas and also, Elizabeth McWhorter Calhoun of Upshur and Grayson County, Texas.
