|I became interested in genealogy back in 1960 when my paternal grandmother passed away in |
Greencastle, Sullivan Co., MO., where my dad was born and raised, and we were going through her attic. We found this large portrait of, what ended up being, my gr gr grandfather. My mother did much research at the library before the internet and wrote a lot of letters by hand.
I spent many happy weekends in Sullivan, Putnam and Adair counties, visiting cousins. Now they are all gone but 1, my father is deceased, my mother died of Alzheimers in June, 2012 and didn't know me for years before that. I miss all the conversations with them all so much and have thought of so many questions I wish I had asked when I had the chance.
I live in Kansas City, MO and in my spare time, I am either inputting graves or going to cemeteries and writing down the information there so I can work on findagrave. I want everyone to be remembered, no one left behind. I try hard to connect family members so they can be together again, as in life. Isn't that a weird thing? I have no life.
"The goal at Find A Grave should not be to manage all of your family members. If you have information to add, you should suggest it to the current manager and they should make the changes."
~Jim Tipton, creator of Find A Grave.
I've never requested a transfer of my own grandparents, and the one who has it is no relation to them. I don't HAVE to have them in my "posession".
In fairness to those who may have closer ties to a memorial, please read the Transfer Guidelines prior to requesting a transfer. You do not need to "manage" every memorial that is part of your family tree. Remember that this site is for locating burials, not building a tree. There are other websites that are more suited for that purpose. I will be happy to make any links and corrections. PLEASE use the SAC feature ("Edit" tab). Please feel free to add photos where appropriate, as you do not need to manage the memorial to add photos.
Please consider using the "virtual cemetery" feature on this site to keep track of relations.
USE THE EDIT TAB FOR INFORMATION. I AM NOT OFTEN ON THIS PAGE.

I have added the info you sent. Thank you for adding this to her memorial. You are what makes Find A Grave a success. God Bless! Janet
I've made all the changes you suggested for George Brannan and family. Please look them over and double check my work. I really appreciate your help and kindness in making these suggestions. We should all strive to make a person's memorial as full of facts and information that is humanly possible. If you learn more or there is more information available in the "family bible" please don't hesitate to let me know.

Just noticed you have a number of Barnetts....Thought maybe we have something more in common....Nellie would be a very relative on my paternal side....Scobys are on my maternal side.

|Patricia Henson||John W.F. Brittin|
I believe he is the son of W. E. (William Early Brittin) and M.E. (Mary Elizabeth Peavler Brittin). W.E. and M.E. are my Great Grandparents and I know they lived in Missouri at the Peavler Farm as my Grandmother, daughter of W.E. and M.E. Brittin was born there. I also know they had a son who died a very young child. I believe there is a Death Certificate for this child in Missouri.
|EB Williams||Humphrey Shoemaker|
Added suggested bio information. May now be able to connect more to Shoemaker part of this family.
Could you change the spelling of the last name to Mortensen as it is on the headstones? I've been looking for four of them! Thank you for finding them for me!!!
|Mark Maxwell||Elizabeth & Rebecca Grimes|
Are the two wives of James B Grimes sisters? or two different families? (See message of 07FEB)
|Linda Joyce Bethurum Mc||Angelina West Anderson|
Angelina West Anderson is in Paradise Cemetery in Clay County, Missouri. Could you please connect her to her husband, George Washington Anderson #57455119
Thank you for your help and have a blessed day!
|Jamie Beard||Correction for Mary Smith Darrah|
There is a name and relationship which need to be corrected for Mary Smith Darrah and William Neri Darrah. Mary's maiden name was Tennant, not Smith.
William Neri Darrah was not the son of Mary and Neri Darrah but was their grandson. His father (their son) was Remembrance Lindsey Darrah and mother was Susan Bell Smith (hence, the confusion with the maiden name for Mary).
