Genealogy is in my blood, my Mom started me researching our family when I was 18. I now maintain the Henderson County TXGenWeb site, I am a member of the Henderson Couinty Historical Commission and TX A.G.O. (Athens Genealogical Org.) |
I like to help out researchers and by adding other names maybe someday someone will add my allusive ancestors.
Go to my Dad's memorial Ray Shumate and leave a flower, he loved motorcycles, airplanes and old cars!!
Transfer requests should only be for DIRECT relatives within four generations. This would be your spouse, children, parents, siblings, grandparents, great-grandparents, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. When requesting a transfer, please state your relationship to the individual.
Any NON-DIRECT relatives (aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, etc) are not required to be transferred. For these extended family members, you can create and add them to your Virtual Cemeteries.
The Genealogists Psalm
Genealogy is my pastime, I shall not stray.
It Maketh me lie down and examine half-buried tombstones. It Leadeth me into still courthouses;
It restoreth my ancestral knowledge.
It leadeth me in paths of census records and ship's passenger lists for my surname's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the shadows of research libraries and microfilm readers,
I shall fear no discourgement.
For a strong urge is within me;
The curiosity and motivation they comforteth me.
It annointeht my head with burning mid-night oil; My family group sheets runneth over.
Surely birth, marriage, and death dates shall follow me all the days of my life;
And I shall dwell in the house of a family history seeker forever.

I thank you for the reply. Thomas Maclin and I are looking for the Bishop Cemetery. We know the locations of 2 churches where she worshiped, but not her home. I just left a message with a Tippah Co. native in Walnut, and I hope he can help.

Can you help us locate the Bishop Family Cemetery, burial place of Harriett Bishop (1818-1879)?
There are ay least 2 cemetery creepers that would like to add the directions, location and GPS coordinates.
Bishop Family Cemetery is a new one for us.

Hi Bunny, Do you have any more information on Robert Henry Wright that would connect him to the family that you suggested. When we do Ancestry on him we get his parents as George and Elizabeth Doughty Wright, but nothing else on them. Just want to make sure; of course we can connect him to Ben and Elizabeth and make changes later. We have the census back to 1870 that has Mary(our g grandmother) on it and then that they were married in 1851.
It would to great to have this connection!
Thanks for your help,(cousin).
|Carolyn Carter||Thank you|
Just wanted to say thank you fir all your good work for generations to come.

Thank you for responding. I have a lot of info on Georgia's father's side. I am not sure if that is what you are wanting or not.

Hello my name is Arie Donaldson. Georgia is my great grandmother on my father's side. She was married to a John Holly Donaldson. They had two children a set of twins named Albert and Alice. I had heard the story about Georgia's body being lost or destroyed. I was wondering if you knew any info on this. I had been told this but everyone I had talked to did not know what happened. I hope this message finds you doing well. Thank you, Arie Donaldson

A neighbor and I visited the "Brown-Freeman Grave" site today, but were unable to locate the two markers or remnants of a wrought-iron fence which had been there when my guide was a young man. He believes the stones may have been removed for safe-keeping and given to the local historians who compiled the county tombstone books, who are now deceased. He is going to check on this with some folks who may know.
In the meantime, I've created the cemetery with photos of the site where the stones were and sent a message to the member who manages the other memorial of William E. Freeman (1901-1963).

I appreciate info and have added to her memorial. I've thought about adding gps readings to the memorials and wonder how anyone could utilize them; is there a tracker that would lead you to the site? Keep up the good work,

Thanks much for the additional info, and the wonderful photo! It's so nice to have that on her memorial. She was my "neighbor" for about 10 years - I lived across the street, then next door to the Beaubien Burial Ground. If I found out anything about her husband's burial place, I will let you know. Quite a lot of the family still seems to be missing-in-death!
