Hello I really love Find-A-Grave. The web page and service have been very valuable to me in my genealogical efforts. It is amazing to me just how much about a person you can find by looking at a grave marker. |
I have been working on my genealogy for many years. I inherited the duty so to speak from my maternal grandfather George Martus. He had much of his genealogy done by a professional genealogist so I had a good start at least on his line. I am working with my daughters to take over for me when my earthly tasks are completed.
I am working on 4 main lines with many branches. I have had some great success.
Finding new information especial a new grave site is very exciting to me. I bet you feel the same way.
I worked as the manager for a very large computer data center until I retired. I am comfortable with computers and really enjoy doing research online over the Internet. We are so lucky these days to have so much information available to us for our efforts.
I am a new member but already have had a lot of help by other members. Now that I am retired I have more time. Not a lot of time, just more than I did when I worked full time.

It is nice to "meet "you. I've been seeing your name pop up in my Harrington research for some time now,but have only recently been makin much use of Find A Grave, and finally joined. I am from Jacob and Johanna Harrington through their son, Levi. Along with a couple others, I have done tons of research on the Harringtons. Don't know if I know much that you don't, but wanted to say hello to a new-found cousin!

Hi Larry, you are welcome for the photos. I fear Samuel will topple backwards at some point. Next time I get out that way I will put something behind the stone to support it. What would MacGyver do? :)
Let me know if there is anything else I can do for you in this area.

I did not take that photo and have never been there. It was given to me by another person. If you will reply to my e-mail address, I will give you his e-mail address.

As Larry Cross (sexton) & I were talking, he reminded me that Alma & Walter died mid-30's - still in the middle of the Great Depression and money was tight. I'm glad they were able to be buried in the cemetery and that Alma's mother is with them. The information regarding the sexton:
Larry E. Cross, 605-352-5330 (w). Watertown Monument Works, 909 East 21st Street, Huron SD 57350. If you want to order flowers, he provided me with this name/address: Avenue of Flowers, 155 Dakota Ave So, Huron SD 57350 (605-352-6797). Larry & his wife Laura Cross own the store and they deliver to the cemetery.

I do have a picture of Daniel Newberry's headstone with his wife's. I believe it is New Harmony Cemetery in Brown County, Ohio. I don't have a copy of the pages in front of me to verify that though. So i will have to "dig" in my early stuff to track it down. Athough I didn't know one of his sons was hung for being a spy. If you want to send me messages my email is firstname.lastname@example.org I tend to check that more often.
