Bio Photo I volunteer at Oakwood Cemetery in Niagara Falls. I have some limited access to St. Mary's and Sacred Hearts Cemeteries, which are adjacent to Oakwood, although most of their records have been destroyed and the cemeteries are in ill repair.

St. Joseph's, Holy Trinity and Gate of Heaven (Lewiston) are not far away and within my travel range for photo requests. I will only take photo requests that already have grave section/area info because these are HUGE cemeteries. Call the cemetery office, tell them you are from far away and ask they provide you with the info so you can send someone else to get the photo. Most places will do one or two requests for FREE. After more than a couple, however, be prepared to pay some sort of fee.

Riverdale and Accacia Park will NOT process requests for Find A Grave photographers and are particularly unfriendly about it. Call them and get the grave location and put it in your photo request. These cemeteries want to charge photographers if they go in and ask for help. For one or two requests, they MIGHT do it over the phone for YOU. Remember: your family BOUGHT plots there. They work for YOU.

Visit my Virtual Cemetery "Oakwood's River Folks" for folks who have died stunting at The Falls or in The Niagara River and then stop by and say hi to my recently departed best friend, Eilean "Ellie" Lyonhil Donan in the Virtual Cemetery, "Beloved Friends".

RE: Violet
It really does not matter to me, because I know she is there. But I could see it being a problem to a Wissler relative who might be looking for the Wissler's wife.

The problem you cite is similar to the problem of a person having gravestone in multiple sites, or a cemetery being known by more than one name. You can handle that with hyperlinks. See, for example, Adam Grauer in Witmer and Riverdale cemeteies. You could do a similar thing here-- create a minimal-data memorial under the name "Violet Schul Wissler", and use a cross-reference to link to the existing Violet Michaels Schul memorial.

RE: Violet
A collateral relative by marriage.

The father of Violet's husband John was Charles Schul. My wife's paternal grandmother was Catherine Schul (Find A Grave Memorial# 107794800), who was a sister of Charles Schul.

I do not object to your using my narrative, as it is all in the cited documents. However, I had a spurious comma in the middle of Violet' name "Violet Schul, Wissler", which should be deleted.

RE: Violet
Hi Scotdeerie,

My error. I intended to suggest plot edit of "L457 D9", but I was switching back and forth between two windows, and "S" was supposed to be the input in the other window.

Regarding Wissler:
There is a Niagara County marriage record that shows John Schul married Violet Michaels. Here parents were Albert Michaels and Catherine Smith. John's obit in the NF Gazette, 29 January 1966, page 9, lists his widow as Violet Smith Schul. So I think her maiden name was Michaels and Smith was her middle name.

Also according to his obit, John and Violet moved in 1962 to Arizona, which is where John died in 1966. She lived for another 30 years, so a second marriage to Wissler is likely. But I am unable to find any other references other than her 1995 funeral record from Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Niagara Falls. That record gives her name as in the grave marker, "Violet Schul, Wissler", but does not say where she died.

RE: Schuls in Oakwood
Thanks for the input. The graves are in the general area I described. I guess that confirms my photo analysis skills. :<)

No further info needed for now. Thanks again.

RE: Schuls in Oakwood
Hi Scot!
Interesting info on the methods you use in the Town Ground. The Schuls to whom I refer were a series of six people, starting with Memorial #118377112 thru #118377118 (omitting #118377114). They all have photos of the gravesites.

Since I sent my earlier message, I have reviewed the memorial photos, and I think I have located the graves on a satellite photo using clues in the memorial photos. I believe these graves are immediately south of the intersection of Ivy and Greenwood Avenues, a bit southwest of the large tree there.

I'll be able to test my surveillance skills "on the ground" over July 4 weekend. I am not certain of their relationship to the Schuls in my wife's family, so I am on a fishing expedition at this point. Thanks for confirming the meaning of "TG".

Schuls in Oakwood
Hi Scot,
You have several memorials to people named Schul. They all indicate grave location as "TG". Is that the Town Burying Ground? If so, is it possible to further localize using the alphanumeric grid system?

Best regards,

RE: Emma Mudge #113152025
Emma lived in the Town of Hartland most of her life. Part of the Village of Middleport is in the Town of Hartland so she may have lived in Middleport. She is not a close relative but is my family tree.
