I've been doing genealogy research for about 35 years. I started before you could turn on your computer and do the research from your home. While I enjoy the convenience of using the internet to do research, I still enjoy the more "hands on" approach. I've taken many trips over the years to courthouses, cemeteries, to visit elderly family members, etc. along the way. For me, the online research just doesn't bring the same satisfaction that I feel when I am able to go dig up the information in person. I've enjoyed meeting cousins that I never knew I had, and I've also been able to reconnect with family members that I've lost contact with over the years. This has become a great hobby, and I've enjoyed learning all the interesting stories, both good and bad, about my family history. I hope I have and am playing some small part in getting younger members of my family interested in what came before them.

I'm happy to share whatever information that I have. Feel free to use the grave photos that I've added without contacting me. I've uploaded them for your use. All I ask is that you list where you got the photo along with the cemetery, city, state so others can find the grave if they wish to visit it. I'm happy to take photos of graves in my area for other people and upload them to memorials here. I think of it as a kind of payment for those who have been kind enough to get photos for me. I try to take the kind of photos that I would like to have....well focused, as readable as possible, and a good angle.

As for the more PERSONAL PHOTOS, I'd like to be contacted before anyone adds them to another website or uses them in any other way. I love sharing, but I also like to know where and how my research and/or personal family photos will be used, and I like to know that credit is given to the proper individual(s) if my research or photos are used by others. I feel it's extremely important that future researchers be able to get to original sources of pictures and other documents the same way that I and others did. It's very frustrating to see a supposed photo of someone on the internet, but the person posting the photo doesn't have the original, can't tell you where the original is or any other information about it, and doesn't even know for sure that the photo is correctly identified.

I'm happy to transfer any memorials that don't belong to my family. Just let me know if I am managing a memorial which is of your family member, and I'll get it transferred to you ASAP if I'm not related. I like to see memorials in the hands of family or friends who can add to the memorial and make it the best it can be.

RE: Transfer?
Thanks for offering to transfer the Pinkston and William Inman memorials, however I'm not related to them. I like connecting family members on Find a Grave, it is like solving a puzzle or creating a "family reunion" in the cemeteries.

COMBS
I've added you to my list of friends because I like your bio and COMBS is one of the surnames in my family.
My maternal side of the family are COMBS & STACY. ON the COMBS side we descend from John Combs, Jr., Revolutionary War soldier. John Combs is a direct descendant of the 8 brothers that came through Pound Gap, VA into Kentucky. Is any of this familiar to you? On my paternal side surnames are BAKER & WALKER.
Dr. Roderick Baker served in the Civil War. The Walkers had exploring in their blood, e.g. Dr. John Walker from Virginia explored in Kentucky long before Danial Boon. Any information you have on my surnames would be, needless to say, very much appreciated.
Your new Friend,
JoAnne # 48136895

Well you're certainly welcome. I have created a memorial for the Martha Williams they do have at Floral Gardens. If you wanted to check it, it's Memorial# 144248135. Good luck with your future searches, God Bless.

Martha Williams
The office staff at Chapel Hill went through their record books and only show one Martha Williams, but the dates don't match. They show Martha E. Williams dob 4/13/37, dod 2/27/95. I have the photo, but don't want to post if it's not the right Martha Williams. Please let me know, thanks.

William C Lyle
Hi Sabrina, Thanks for searching for William C Lyle's grave. (Find A Grave Memorial# 103138754) I'm so sorry he didn't have a marker and that you had to waste valuable time searching for it. I really appreciate your effort and time in this matter. Best regards, Sandy
