I have been interested in family history for over 20 years. In 2006 I became intrigued with visiting and photographing cemeteries.|
I had browsed and used Find A Grave many times. However, it wasn't until a couple years ago that I was able to use it to find a missing link in my own family. Now I am truly appreciative of what an awesome tool this is for genealogy researchers.
I appreciate all the time and effort of the staff and fellow memorial and photo contributors. Thank you! What an awesome gift we are sharing with eachother. A couple of years ago I moved from Southern California to North Georgia. It has been fun exploring our new area. If I can, or have been of help to you in finding a grave, then please drop me a note to let me know. I'd love to hear from you. I also have no problem with making corrections, additions, or memorial transfers. PLEASE USE THE MEMORIAL EDIT FEATURE TO SUGGEST A CORRECTION, and I will get to it as soon as I can. Which may, unfortunately, be later than sooner. Thanks!
FYI-I do not mind sharing photos here at Find A Grave. However, I would hate for the photos I have taken to be copied and placed into incorrect cemeteries. It would be a shame to have this invaluable information be tainted that way. I hope that most people are here for the right reasons, and will think twice about borrowing images, reposting them (incorrectly) elsewhere, or taking sole credit for them. Please respect eachothers hard work in making this site what it is. Thanks!

I did not realize you had already contacted Ronda. The memorials will not allow me to delete them but it allowed me to delete the photos. Maybe she can transfer them back to me and I can delete them that way.
|Pat Gillespie||RE: Duplicate Memorials|
Since these duplicates were transferred to Ronda Reno, you will have to have her delete them. Sorry for the inconvenience.

You will either have to contact the original creator or tag I don't have the authority to remove what I did not create. I have tried in the past and I get the message that I am not the creator of the memorial that I can't remove it. I would be glad to otherwise. Jiles C Cotton is my 3rd Great Grandfather.

I was wondering if you would please transfer Leonard Manko to my care. He is one of my relatives and I would like to link him with the rest of his family. Thanking you in advance for your consideration.

If you go to the Jackson County Tax Map on the web it is listed under parcel no. 084 005E Jackson County Hayes Family Trust. It is on private land. I knocked on the door of a family that was renting a home on the acreage and he was nice enough to take me to the cemetery. It would have be impossible to find without his help.

I think you mentioned that the location of this cemetery was unknown. I actually found the cemetery after asking a person living there to help me. It was a half mile walk on the 110 acre plot. The cemetery is overgrown with brush and briars and has a fence around it. At least half of the stones have no markings, cannot read the markings, or are broken. It is very difficult to walk around in it.

i am to assume that you are local -hello neighbor .
I have been attempting to gather more information on this family .
I have learned the original location of the main house during the time they resided here -it burned many years ago .
It is my understanding that there are no living relatives currently in the area .
I learned from neighbors that no one has been to visit the site in greater than 10 yrs -so sad-I hate to see it fall into neglect this way .
Unfortunately I do not have the time /tools to work on it like I would like .
My sons ,myself and a friend spent the day removing
brush and fallen limbs from the area around the cemetary .I would love to elicit a local response to clean it up -possibly Sons of Confederate Veterans to assist with the clean up since Dr Mitchell is a Confederate Veteran .
|John Cagle ||Mitchell Family Cemetary|
This cemetetary is located is on the property on which I am currently living @318 Hwy 60. .There are not only 3 graves my son was cleaning up a bit and found a 4th grave stone with the name of "little johnnie mitchell -son of HN and maria mitchell .
THe cemetary has fallen into shambles we have up righted stones where possible and the overgrowth is extreme .
we will be working soon to refurbish /restore the cem to its original condition.
I have been able to trace back from H.N.Mitchell 6 generations back to a Thomas Mitchell B:abt 1670 England.
On the Mothers side(Neisler/Neuscheler) I have them back to to abt 1628 Germany which includes all the allied families back to that time -just in case some one else is researching this family -I would more than happily share my findings .
|Victoria ||Thank you|
This is the first correct documentation I have found for my friend, Kathleen Marie Greensmith. I had seen it in the past, on other sites but I didn't believe it was true. You had her middle name, a possible married name, her correct birthday and unfortunately, her date of death....27. Way too young. I miss her!
