Bio and Links
Bio Photo This site has been such a great help in my family research. I have added my family info in hopes that it may help others.
I am researching the following families and their branches: Strouhal, Ferguson and McClendon settled in Texas, Bailey settled in Louisiana and the Newcity(Villeneuve), Twombly, Kidder, Grow, Brown families (and their branches) settled in the northeast in Vermont, NH, Mass, Ohio etc. Also researching the White family (Miss.) from my Uncle James L White.
Let me know if you see anything that needs correcting or if you have additional info. Please use the edit tab when sending the information. Have a nice day....

I believe we have communicated before, particularly regarding the Twombly's in PleasantView cemetery in Orleans.
Please send me an e-mail at johnperry@myfairpoint.net or give me your e-mail address so I can write directly to you.. Jack and Grace are very longtime personal friends and I have a lot to tell you..

Rick Utton and I were the ones who cleaned the footstones for Doris and Maurice.. As you are a relative, I should tell you that Rick Utton and my wife Joan [Michaud] Parry were high school classmates of Jack Healey [whom I would guess to be a cousin of yours] Jack was the only son of Pauline Twombly and H.Clyde Healey. When I am done, I will have photographed nearly the entire 2000+ burials in Irasburg.
Regards

RE: Franklin Newburn had family and a story
Incidentally, that Tacet Dum Clamat (Silent but it Speaks) matters: The two branches on the tree-shaped tombstone for Franklin are for his two children, if I remember the symbolism correctly. It could well be that the missing child is that T.D. Also, the present-day Woodmen of the World Life Insurance Company of Omaha, Nebraska has its origins in the secret society that was this Woodmen of the World.

RE: Franklin Newburn had family and a story
You are surely welcome. We transcribe obituaries from newspapers printed in Washington County, Nebraska. One volunteer makes copies from the microfiche, and pastes them onto the permanent cards. Sometimes old newspapers turn up, and those are clipped and put on the cards. Then others of us scan these cards, take them home and transcribe them. I try to send copies of the obits to the various managers (and if the person isn't already in FindaGrave their memorial pretty soon is :) But that is not so for many of the others. It is an on-going process. Any more, when we take photographs in Washington County, I take a passing glance through the newashcogs.org/obits.asp website. Since you do have relatives from the Washington County area, you might visit the website occasionally. Glad we could be of help to you and yours!

Franklin Newburn had family and a story
When we took the photo of Franklin Newburn, we also found the rest of the Newburns in Blair Cemetery and photographed them as well. I sent the obit to the manager of the memorial, and also the GPS coordinates (you can click on them, switch to photo, and zoom in to see tiny tombstones as well as "move" around the cemetery)

Following is the caption for the area photo:
Newburn plot, looking west

Front row, L-R:
tall Woodmen of the World stone: Franklin T. Newburn;
small stone: Alburtus H. Newburn
NSV flower: F.G. Newburn

Back:
large gray stone: Stephen G. Newburn and Elvira, his wife.

Best wishes to you, and hope this helps!
