I started researching our family history in the fall of 2000 with some encouragement from my dad. I grew up as the only grandchild living in the same town with both sets of grandparents and one great-grandmother. I had another great-grandmother that lived in Oklahoma until I was in my 30s. My dad's father passed away when I was a teenager and I was not smart enough to ask him all the questions I now wish I had. We only had pieces of information to start our research on. It seems that my grandfather was rasied by his maternal grandparents because his mother died when he was only 7 years old and he was the oldest of 5 children. We also found that our last name was not our actual bloodline. My great grandfather had assumed the name of the family that raised him, because his mother also died when he was an infant. This information is what drives me to continue our family research. In the short time that I have been digging up this information I have found a lot of interesting and fun facts, but most of all I am happy about the other branches of our family I have discovered. It is great when they have photos and information to share. This creates the bond that makes the roots stonger in our family tree.|

I created a memorial for Earl Wesley Abernathy who passed away the day after Christmas. In trying to link his parents, I read your wonderful and interesting biographies with last name changes, etc. I found it interesting because my family tree has some similarities with children being raised by others and last names being "assumed" by children. It makes research much more difficult, but more interesting as well...
My question is if you would like his memorial transferred to you? I connected his memorial to the "Bert Abernathy" memorial figured people could read the info and then check the "Lane" memorial. Let me know if you want the memorial transferred.

I think Maude Dinkins was maybe my great grandmother. My grandfather was John Percy Dinkins from Bradley Arkansas. My mother has passed on so I don't have any info on her side. Thanks, Lona

I have located and have pictures for you. The maximum pictures allowed on the site has been reached.
I will e-mail the pictures to you and you can add/delete as you see fit. The broader pics will let you know where it is located, it's actually very easy to find and the pavilion as a reference will put you on the correct line.

No, ma'am, not related. I just love photographing & transcribing cemeteries. I'm happy you located them. I'm still working on Roselawn Memorial. I've been working on it now for several years. No small task, but i'm now over 50% done. Got probably 2 more trips to make there, and then i'll be moving on to some smaller local cemeteries, and then the huge one -- Collins in Alice. eeekkk!!!
I'm still working on Cenizo Hill in San Patricio Co as well. Got 2 more rows to do there & a walkthrough to update my transcription.
Lesson learned - start & finish a large cemetery before starting on another one. LOL
You have a great day. You certainly made mine!
