I have found out through research that David Lindsay immigrated in about 1878 and was married to Mary Brown. He was born in 1858 in Scotland. They had 4 children. Janet was my cousin's wife.

James Henry McGee
Found James Henry and family in 1870 - they're in East Donegal, Lancaster Co. PA. It's definitely them: James & Elizabeth plus kids Mary, John, Elizabeth, William, Frank, David. All the birthdates match up. So they moved East before they moved West to OH.

RE: James Henry McGee
I'd like to talk more about the Magee/McGee's but I'd rather do it by email. In the meantime check out the pages I made for my Magees. Start with James Madison Magee, b. 1812 Frederick Co. MD.

James Henry McGee
You could really, REALLY, R E A L L Y help me, if you can show me documentation - anything - proving that your James Henry McGee was the son of James McGee and Mary Little. For the DAR I need to prove that "my" James Madison Magee, born 1812 in Frederick Co. MD was NOT the son of "your" James McGee and Mary Little and was instead the son of George W. Magee/McGee and Catharine Senseney. Both couples married around the same time in Frederick Co. Both are there in the 1810 census. If I can prove that your James Henry is the son of James & Mary, it follows that they didn't ALSO have a son named James Madison. Write me at

Thank you for your message. I personally know one of the Porr family descendants, and those last names you mentioned ring a bell. I'll contact Dave Eddy and have him get ahold of you. -Frank Passic.

RE: Thank You
Hi,Lois: Thanks very much for your response. You are correct. Robert Albert was my great grandfather. Our children had asked me to make notes about our family tree so I started the project a few days ago. I had a handful of funeral cards my father had stuffed in a prayer book and started from there. Doing a search for some of the names led me to your listing. I then called my aunt Jane, who is the only surviving member of that WWII generation, and we talked for over an hour while she filled in a lot of gaps. The story I had always heard was that Robert Albert had come over from Switzerland when he was about twenty-five. I was able to find an immigration entry for a Robert of that age who came to New York on March 8, 1886.

Robert and Katie had passed a few years prior to my birth. They lived in the house next to my grandparents on Seneca Street. I have pictures that I will be glad to scan and send to you but do not know how to bypass this public forum. Am I correct in assuming Katie may have been a great-aunt?

From your listing I was glad to learn of their parents, John Arn and Marie Fisher Arn. They were unknown to us. I would like to find out more information about them but I think that may be difficult by the way the census was carried out in Switzerland at that time.

Best regards,

Thank You
Lois: The work you have done here has greatly helped me and I can't thank you enough. I am related to Katie Rosche through my father. FInding this information led me to other sources and ultimately a long phone call to one of the few remaining people with first hand stories of Seneca Street. Pictures are forthcoming. This would not have happened without your work.
