*********************************** This is a hobby to me and I make mistakes, just let me know what I did wrong and I'll fix it as soon as I read it. I promise.
*********************************** PLEASE USE EDIT BUTTON FOR CORRESPONDENCE. ************************************
I've been away for awhile. I was at my happiest when I spent a lot of time here perhaps because I was closer to my loved ones. I hope I have the strength to return.
************************************ ABOUT ME:
I began posting entries for family members, friends, neighbors, or others with whom I've had some connection. Now I've worked my way up to adding those that have been interment in my favorite cemeteries that I find in our local small newspaper.
I inherited my interest in cemeteries from my mother. She believed in paying respect to those who past and at times she just enjoyed being nosey......many times with me behind the wheel of the vehicle that got us to the cemetery. My most memerable one being when she had me take her to a few funeral homes looking for a body. She found out someone died several months prior and she was determined to find out details. We did find out!!! She was a "trip" and I miss her dearly.
One of my hobbies is genealogy (which I'm sure I inherited from mother, also). Surnames I'm researching are: ENGELHARDT, ZYDEL, MONTROY, MONTREUIL, KARL, STUBBE. If I knew where most of my ancestors were buried, I'd have many more entries posted. I'll continue working on that.
Through geneology I was able to contact family in Poland. In 2008 my husband and I flew to Poland to meet many of my Polish family. It was truly an emotional, loving experience that will be with me always. We remain in contact.
Perhaps I'll get to do the same with my German side some day.
Happy Hunting!!

 | Hillcrest Cemetery in Erie Co. NY Thanks for your note. If you have names you want me to watch for, just email me. I've done several photo requests in the older section and have only 1 that we were not able to locate as the cemetery had no record. I've kept the name in case we stumble upon the stone later. Would be happy to add your names to my list and keep an eye out for them when I'm there.Added by Ann M on Jun 20, 2012 10:52 AM | | | Ann M
 | Hillcrest Cemetery in Erie Co. NY one additional note to mention after I posted the pictures of the Damba's -
I realized that there are duplicate cemeteries listed under the name Hillcrest in Erie Co, NY. So, if you are looking for any more in WNY, be sure to check both of the Hillcrests in Erie county. There are two sections of this cemetery, an older one and a newer one across the street. Same main office though, just different signage for the two sections. I emailed FindAGrave to combine but who knows how long that may take and if there are duplicates once it is done.Added by Ann M on Jun 20, 2012 5:26 AM | | | Fred

 | RE: Hillcrest Cemetery Thank you for the insight. It is hard to know every area of the US and I always appreciate a lesson in geography. Some day, if time and money allow I would like to visit these wonderful places.
Thanks again PamAdded by Pam on Aug 04, 2011 6:52 AM | | | | [View all messages...] |
