Recently I have had too many inaccurate requests to make changes to the memorials that I manage. While I do love getting information, I verify it is correct before I honor that request. At times I ask for sources as to where the information came from so please don't be offended when asked.

Known Burials verses Unknown Burials: Search for the cemetery if adding a memorial or obituaries from a newspaper clipping. Can't find it right away, please follow-up. There have been way to many contributors that have burial unknowns and are now placing their memorials into a known cemetery and stating theirs were there first.

The guidelines clearly state a memorial with a correct known burial location will always be preferred over an unknown burial location. Please review here and here. Based on those guidelines the memorial added to the right cemetery first may stay and the burial unknown that was added to that cemetery or a new memorial added after the first memorial will be deleted regardless of the date that the memorial was added.

Duplicates: I have taken stewardship of some of IWPP's memorials. I am currently working on them. Please remember since I am not the original owner I cannot delete his record directly. I have to merge the duplicates with the original record.

Transfers: I have had many contributors asking to have the same memorial transferred to them. We cannot please everyone so I am only adhering to the four generation rule (siblings, parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren). As the guidelines state the goal is not to "own" every memorial of those to whom you are related. The ultimate goal should be to have meaningful, accurate memorials that honor those who have passed away, regardless of who created the memorial or who maintains it. A wonderful way to gather all your ancestors together and achieve that goal is by setting up a virtual cemetery.

I would like to thank all contributors and photographers for all that you have done for me and for FindaGrave. You are very much appreciated!

Have Fun and Happy Hunting!
