RE: Capt John Thomas Washington Medearis
He was the third cousin of George Washington and Donna's 4th Great Grandfather. He did not refuse a land grant. He received 3840 acres in then Davidson County, North Carolina, now Marshall County, Tennessee. He didn't require repayment of a loan of he made to the young country of $75,000 (over $1,700,000 in today's dollars) for the reason stated.

It appears that the owner saw fit to rearrange the photos. I have no problem with the additional information you provided as long as it is correct, but it belongs in the bio as suggested by Find A Grave to leave room for grave or personal photos.

BTW, the area is still known as Liberty Valley and there is a fairly detailed bio already on the memorial which is pretty close to correct.

Capt John Thomas Washington Medearis
You have placed a picture of your personal SAR application on the memorial to Capt. John Thomas Washington Medearis 28703317 coopting space for photos of his gravestone. This is somewhat presumptuous of you since this man has over 400 living descendants.

Please remove this picture of a document that adds nothing to his memorial for the use of all his other descendants.

All of us would appreciate your cooperation in handling this as soon as possible.

Thank you,
Joe Spears

RE: Thomas J Hodgson
I think it will solve the problem if you can find a date of burial. This will confirm if kept here are sent there after death. The record here says died 9/16/1962.

Boy, so this will remain a mystery for sure..I was in the middle of moving and did not have the time, but now I will go back and try researching to see if perhaps there was more than one guy with this name and track where they lived.. When I find any answers, would you be interested in knowing the results of my research?

RE: Thomas J Hodgson
Thank you very much... I would be interested in knowing what you find... It is quite a co-incidence, as well as a mystery.

Thomas
Is there a reason you have not responded to my two requests for this gentleman?

Their suggestion:
-------------------------
I am almost sure this is your thomas J Hodgson, too much circumstancial evidence.. But I am Pres of the local Sierra Co NM genealogy society and I am currently transcribing funeral home records. I can send you a copy by email if you prefer, but I have the following:
this names parents but mother Margaret is not maiden name Wolf.

Thomas J Hogdson
113 W 2nd St, T or C
charge to Raymond Keithley, Administrator
veteran of WWI
born 3-5-1889 in Calif
Father-Thomas J Hodgson
Mother Margaret Greeley
Died 9-16-1962
Says cremated and remains sent to Fairview Cemetery in Albuquerque, NM
A real problem I see is it stated he lived in NM for 44 years.
Is this just a co-incidence?

RE: George Ehrhardt
THIS Ben Ehrhardt was born in Lodi, CA to Sam Ehrhardt who was born in Ramona, KS. Ben was my uncle. My father was Edwin Ehrhardt, second son of Samuel, younger brother of Ezra. Sam and Lizzie Hanschu (who was brought out by her uncle Fredrick Hanschu from Russia) in 1906, came through Galveston, TX. George Ehrhardt's wife was Eva Elisabeth Langhoffer (also from Bauer). George and Eva had Sam, Solomon, Isaac, Daniel, Jacob, and Phoebe. All but one moved to Lodi in 1920. Solomon stayed behind.
Sam and Lizzie Ehrhardt had 6 children (Ez, Ed, Herbert, Pearl, Benjamin, and Richard).

There was another family of Ehrhardts that lived in Sacramento that my dad also know and they were much "shorter" than our family. We were all in the 6 ft tall range. The Ehrhardts out of Sacramento were 5['4" or 5' 6". My father was the police officer and photographer. We sent photo Christmas cards to everyone every year until is death in 1996. I am the youngest daughter of Ed and Winifred Ehrhardt from Lodi...later retired to Galt.

All the other brothers and sister Pearl are now deceased. Only one female cousin of my dad's (Dan's daughter Cleo) and one male cousin (Isaac's son Lowell) are still alive (both in their 90s). One of our cousins lived to 101 (Alvin Ehrhardt who was the son of Jacob. He gave me first hand memories of his grandfather George (my great grandfather who died in March 1918 and is buried in the Moen Cemetary. I still have second cousins that live in that community.

Hope that helps some.

Thomas Wright son of James
You uploaded a photo of documents regarding Thomas Wright, son of James Wright with a comment that there were 2 Thomas Wrights, and the one md. to Esther Hiatt was not the son of James. I couldn’t read the documents but would like to correspond to better understand this mix up.

Thanks,
Sara Patton
