Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have been a genealogist for 27 years. I was born in Kansas and grew up in Kansas until I was a sophomore in high school. We then moved to Des Moines, Iowa where I finished high school. I have lived all over the country and traveled in 43 states. I love the history of our country and studying my families along with their friends and neighbors. I keep a huge database of families because I track them as they travel westward. I have helped many people find their ancestors because I have a gift at tracking families, so I want to share that with others. I don't always find everyone, but my percentage rate is at least 95% of the time. They call me the sleuth!! One of my friends once told me "ya can't hide from you!"

My father was adopted in 1920 and I found our biological family in 1992 when he was 72 years old. I am willing to help adoptees try to find their families, especially the stolen children of Georgia Tann of the Tennessee Children's Home Society in Memphis, Tennessee.

I recently completed research for Hewitt Clarke's new book, "Money and Blood" and am currently doing research for another new book he's going to publish. The story features a section on the family of Filmore Johnson and his wife, Betty Levy and the self made million, Robert Johnson who started BET television, whom is a descendant of Filmore Johnson.

Due to people stealing my tombstone photos without permission and not so much as documentation and putting them on ancestry, I will not grant permission to use any of them. Only one Example arabianvoice Karen Sherrill Sanders, who refuses to take them down after numerous requests.

I've finished her memorial (110254530) and deleted my duplicate. Would you like me to transfer her back to you?

Barbara Anne Moser Hedrick
Hi Carolyn,

I was looking at the photo you added to Barbara Anne Moser Hedrick's profile, apparently of her and her cousin Lavinia Barbara Sigman. I'm curious- who is who in the picture? I'm doing research for FamilySearch. Thanks

"Sary" Pierce question
Hi Carolyn,
I recognized your name from Woolsey work over the years. Am wondering if you can help solve a problem?
We're trying to confirm Sarah Unknown's last name. Born 1716 in Bedford, Westchester, New York, USA. The Sarah who Rev. Thomas Woolsey — married after 1760 in Westchester Co, NY,USA

One of the earliest references to Sary’s possible surnames was by an unnamed grandson of Rev. Thos. who appears to be a son of either George or Richard who had migrated to KY. He stated:
"“Thomas Woolsey was born in 1719 in Bedford, Westchester County, New York the son of Richard Woolsey (1697-1782) and Sarah Fowler (1698-1799). He may have been married Twice. In his will his wife is “Sary” for Sarah but this may be his second wife Sarah who is somewhat tentatively identified as Sarah Perce [sic]. His first wife also seems to have been named Sarah, maiden name not known, and she was the mother of his nine children.” Whether this assumption is correct or not correct, I do not know at this writing.”
Source: http://nefamilies.com/fam/history.aspx?x=123

A 2nd source provided the following possible source for Sary’s surname as Pierce:
"Rev. Thomas Woolsey was born at Bedford, a town of quaint old buildings and cemeteries, located in Westchester County, NY, where it was thought he married his wife, Sarah, as she is designated in her husbands will. The supposition has been made that the surname was Pierce, The only reason for this supposition being that John Pierce and wife Sarah were associated with Rev. Thomas in buying and selling various tracts of land.”
[JRT note: Still have to determine whether land transactions were in VA or NY. If they were in VA, it’s more probable she was , as you say, his 2nd wife].
No worries if you can't deduce/comfirm any documents. It's been looked at by,

photo of Harriet Jane Deal Sigmon
I am interested in learning the source of the photograph of my great-great grandmother. Is her name on the back of the photo or did family convey the information of identity? I have seen older photographs of her, however, nothing this young. Thank you.

Carolyn, thank you so much for all your hard work. Without you I wouldn't have all this great genealogy. Could you put me in contact with Gary Brooks? I would like to know more about my family tree.
