Thank you so much for adding the tombstone picture.
It really helps to get confirming or additional information.
It is because of people like you, who go out of your way to assist us, that we are able to link to our family members.

Fay,
Two of the cemeteries are on the same road(Crystal Springs Rd) the other two are on opposite ends of the same creek, Big Richland E. & W. about three miles separating them. They are all within 10-12 miles of my home.

RE: Joseph Birdwell (1840-1875)
Thank you so much for all the trouble you went to, to explain the headstone details. His year of death on find a grave is 1875, so I'm sure his stone is in poor condition and hard to read. The circle in the center is interesting and made me curious if there was meaning to the circle. It looks like a pictogram. I received your emails and I appreciate all you have done. Sheilah in Utah

Joseph Birdwell (1840-1875)
Thank you for taking the photo of Joseph Birdwell's headstone at Cubb Creek Cemetery Find A Grave Memorial# 61945269. Were there any inscriptions that were visible to read? The headstone appears to have a circle in the center. Do you know what the circle means or what may have been inscribed within the circle? Was his name visible with his DOB/DOD dates? Thank you, Sheilah

RE: Holleman's
Hi
I am not related to the Holleman's. I am trying to help an elderly person find more info about her mothers side of the family. I am not even sure if Holleman is her grandmothers last name. I have come across many ancestry hints on Ancestry.com and when I am investigating, I try to connect those that belong together.

If you have any info, I would greatly appreciate it!

This is what I know:
The person I am helping is Melba (Holloway) Waataja born 1933.
Parents:
Thomas M Holloway 1884-1976 and
Geneva (Born Genevieve) L Smith 1898-1971

Her maternal grandparents are:
Dr Robert Smith (If this is the correct one) he was born 1 Jul 1865 died 10 Feb 1906, (find a grave #71202675) and Amanda Jane b abt 1862 Arkansas - d Jan 1921 Wyoming.
I am unable to find marriage records in Arkansas for them, but I did for her parents, 3 Aug 1919 in Optimus, Stone, Arkansas. I was hoping for the parents being listed, but no such luck. Her first name is spelled Genevra. (Lots of not so great spellers in those days)

Dr Robert Smith went to Texarkana Medical School and I found a picture of graduation 1890.

Census 1910- Amada Smith age 48 widowed and Genevera L Smith age 13 daughter in Big Flat, Baxter Arkansas. Again, spelling is incorrect but thats how I found it.

Melba didnt know what happened to her maternal grandfather and her grandmother didnt talk about her family. Melba's mother spent some time on the indian reservation as her father did medical work there, and she had been sick. Her mother did have a half brother, but unsure of name and age. He was not a productive person.
Thanks
Elaine
