Bio Photo Greetings! I am retired U.S. Coast Guard, 27 years, 9 months and 4 days service (4 years U.S. Navy) originally from Macon, Georgia, living near Nashville, Tennessee. I've always loved strolling through cemeteries looking at individual graves and wondering what kind of person lies resting at my feet. I can stroll cemetaries for hours without getting bored. I love Military History, specifically the Civil War, as my g-g-grandfathers fought for the Confederacy; however, I have a soft spot for ALL veterans and children. I have traced my lineage paternally to Ulster Scots emigrating from Ireland in the early 1700s, first to Pennsylvania then to North Carolina and eventually to Wilcox County, Georgia by the early 1800s. Maternally, I am second-generation Italian/Croatian. Those of you who leave flowers for any of my memorials or simply visit, I wish to thank you in advance. If I leave flowers for your loved one(s), no thanks is necessary, but if you feel the need to reply please do so. God bless us all.

There's a photo on his page that someone uploaded. By the way, I also requested a grave photo.

I just uploaded his death notice to your memorial page, in case you want to rearrange things and put his photo back on top. Your cousin, Donna.

U S Coast Guard historical note
I came upon your profile via a circuitous route wandering in FindGrave, and thought you may appreciate this find I made in a local Cortlandt Manor, NY cemetery
William Danner USN. The death of the Huron sailors I believe prompted and shamed Congress into funding year round lifesaving service and was fundamental in the creation of the expansion of the Coast Guard from just a revenue service.

RE: General Patton
Thank you for your support. I should have made it clear that my remarks about Patton were "tongue-in-cheek". It's just that most people who hear about Butler for the first time want to compare him to Patton. I posted a comment on Sgt Grit Marine Gear leaving out the comments about Patton but comparing Butler to Army MG Sidney Schachnow. A Marine took my comments the wrong way and said no Army general was comparable to Butler. MG Schachnow would be the first person to say he was not equal to Butler. I wanted to say that Butler and Schachnow had a unique factor in their careers; it was not unusual in the 19th century, but Butler and Schachnow are the only two 20th century general/admiral rank officers that I have been able to find who entered the military as high school drops.

I also wish to commend the original poster for his professionalism and restraint. He did not attack me, he attacked what I wrote.

I am a retired soldier who has traveled to the International Military Pilgrimage to Lourdes six times and will be going again this year. I ask your prayers for a safe journey and return. See for more information on this incredible event
