RE: George W. Kinney
My George William Kinney was born and died in Muskingum County Ohio. I think we are talking about two different persons. Scott

Carman,

The birth location for Ophelia cannot possibly be correct as Norton County was not settled in 1863.
Are you sure about the death location (Devizes, Kansas) for William? It seems odd that he would die way up in the NW part of the county when Densmore is in the SE corner.

Diehard.

Alice Kappel
Carmen, I checked at ancestry.com for Alice in the 1880 census and looed up the family 1900 census. The handwriting on the 1880 census is not very neat and there are errors that have been written over, so I pieced it together with the information from the 1900 census, also. There is a Wolverton family living on a farm in Little Blue, Washington, KS, in the 1880 census, and Greenleaf, Washington, KS, in the 1900 census. The father is either Jesse Wolverton, born September, 1832. He was born in PA, as were both his parents. The wife is listed at Louisa (at least his second, married in 1877). She was born in IL; her parents in MA. Amongst the children in the 1880 census is Alice, age 13, born in IL. That makes the birth year a little off what I have on Alice's grave, but I could have written it down wrong. Hope this helps.

Alice Wolverton Kappel
Hello Carmen,

I don't have a great deal of information on Alice Wolverton Kappel. I know for certain that her grave is in Maplewood Cemetery near Barnes and the dates on it are 1864 - 1891 (I have seen her grave). The couple had two children, Maude (born 1887, in Barnes, KS) and Mary (born 1890, also in Barnes). In the 1880 census, George was single and living in Valley, Page, Iowa, and I am not certain if they married in that vicinity or in Kansas. I hope this helps some.
