Nancy Wright
This is a long shot but....I see that your name is Jay Wright and one of the graves you photographed was that of Nancy Wright perhaps married to John Wright. I have been searching for a John Wright, born 17 Feb 1773 in Litchfield, Ct, son of James Wright and Elizabeth Lee. This John and wife, Nancy Harper Wright, lived in Harpersfield, Ashtabula Co., Ohio and later in Coschocton Co., Ohio Could he be one of your ancestors ? Thank you for any information.

Joseph N. Woodmansee #15018248
Hi Jay:

Bravo to you for your recent research pertaining to Joseph N. Woodmansee and his brother, John Milton Woodmansee! I agree with your findings and have deleted my entry for Joseph and up-dated John’s entry with a photo of his military marker. I do remember I questioned several things pertaining to Joseph at the time I posted the Find A Grave entry and I should have followed through more thoroughly with my research.

You mentioned Joseph’s year of birth. I had listed 1841, based on information I had received from a Noble researcher many years ago. After checking information this weekend, I believe the correct date is 1844. Both the 1860 and 1870 census records list his birth year as 1844, as does the Ohio County Death Records, 1840-2001.

John and Joseph’s father was Reuben Woodmansee; their mother was Melissa Noble Woodmansee. Melissa died in August 1844; Joseph was born in March 1844. Reuben re-married in September 1847. His second wife was Mary Ann Noble (a distant cousin to Melissa). Mary Ann’s parents were John and Huldah Morris Noble----- my gg-grandparents. Joseph does not appear in the 1850 census for Reuben and Mary Ann Woodmansee, but his siblings (John M., Wilson G., and Susannah), along with a new half-brother (Charles L.) are listed.

Glad you were able to clarify the information for Joseph and John. I am happy I could add the correct photo to John's entry.

Take care and thanks again.

More on Col Wm
Thanks for the fast reply....but obviously you have piqued my interest....there were family stories (when I was real young)that we had a War Vet who came to a tragic ending (post war) when he and his horse were swept away in a flash flood in Wheeling...but nothing else....I see you have spent a bunch of time adding to a ton of memorial records, but maybe you might among all your research, some added insight into our "Col"...with so many Miller's, all I;m finding are Privates in the VA the Confederacy...a few hints to steer me, like more about the GAR medal or where to learn more would really be a great help.

Thanks again....if it matters, I'm probably the next military vet in the family, but it was the Navy that got me.

Astonished at your efforts, more particularly my
lineage connection in Whg...and I;m here in CT, so your Yale thing shows how small a world it is.....curious about the medal citation on the web page..

That was an oversight on my part. I have
corrected it. Thanks for pointing it out to me.

Hannah Elliot Johnston
Hi Jay,

Did not know if you realized that Hannah Elliot and Hannah Johnston are one in the same person, married to Andrew Johnston. There is a previous memorial for her:

Okay - I may have answered my own question. I had that Mary Ann Duckwall and John Wesley Fawley m. 14Oct1869 but that appears to be the marriage date with Allen R Surber, who must be the father of Rachel. Sorry for the confusion!

I am a Fawley descendant. Hoping you can clear-up the apparent issue of Rachel's father? I am guessing he is not John Wesley Fawley Find A Grave # 33808012, the spouse of Mary Ann Duckwall m. 14Oct1869? Was Rachel an illegitimate child or adopted? Thanks!

Wonderful, thanks! It makes me feel good to see the family links on her memorial. I agree it would make sense to be able to add source to a suggested edit. Mike
