Bio and Links
Bio Photo PLEASE use the Edit tab and Suggest a Correction link to add/correct information. I try to get to them within 24 hours of receipt.

PLEASE use the Edit tab and Suggest a Correction to request a transfer. Please include your relationship. I will not transfer out of guidelines. Please spare me the "I am the family genealogist" and the "I have tons of information to add" stories. Use the edit system. Too many people have requested out-of-guidelines transfers and then never added so much as a comma to the memorial. Requests for bulk transfers will be summarily ignored.

I WILL NOT link to a "burial unknown". This IS a grave registration site.

If I do not maintain the memorial, but add a picture, PLEASE check the photo caption for the inscription.

My love of old cemeteries is genetic from my dad. I try to take pictures of the fallen/damaged markers first as they might end up "behind the shed" or "over the wall" by the next time I get there.

Sources for additional memorial information include:
Suggest A Correction, NEHGS, Fold3.com, Ancestry.com, NARA, other on-line sources, personal library, obituaries, newspaper items, etc.

RE: Unbelievable
Don't know anything about Otis...I will check on Orson's grave. Don't think I have anything. Are there any other headstones for the other kids?

Unbelievable
I am so impressed. By chance I looked up my Dad's name Elwin Child and you had found a headstone from Elwin "Ellie" Child that died in 1868?

That was a child who was listed in our family bible. He was a son of Orson Child. I thought it was one of Orson's children who died in Missouri
when Orson got his 40 acres and a mule for serving in the Union Army. Apparently he didn't stay too long as this shows he moved back up to Mass. shortly later. We had always heard stories how they lost seven children in Missouri before moving back East.
Thank you for your diligence. I will treasure this photo of our past. If you find anything further in the Mass. area, I would love to hear from you. That's where my family lived for years.
Regards, Herb

Elijah Sikes
Thanks for your message this morning regarding the Elijah Sikes photo. Since I had the time, I went to the internet and found an article entitled "Trail of Tombstones, Part 2" in Ancestry Magazine Sep-Oct 1996. I was written by Marjorie Waterfield and is a wealth of information on Elijah and his family. I have sent a message to Marjorie suggesting that she put a link to the article on the memorial.

RE: RE Rebecca Torrey Duplicate
Please don't be offensive to me because I am a newer member than you. You aren't any better than me. I may not have created as many memorials as you have. However I have submitted over 5,000 edit corrections not including bio corrections. I do have experience working with volunteers all across the country.

I have sent messages to Find A Grave recently and I have been surprised at the fairly promptly response. Maybe this is because Find A Grave has been granted additional resources given their merge with Ancestry.
I believe they are getting additional resources all the time -- see below. Because you are the manager, I am letting you know and you have the responsibility to work together to resolve the duplicate issue. So I ask you again to refer to Find A Grave policy:

From what you explain one of the memorials is a cenotaph, where she is actually not buried.

Then the memorial of the cenotaph where not buried either needs to
1) merged the memorial into the other memorial where buried or
2) marked by Find A Grave as cenotaph. You certainly can keep your links as you have currently set up. This must be done by sending a request to Find A Grave to mark the memorial where not buried as a cenotaph.

Please remember that these memorials update Family Search, Ancestry, etc

If the other manager doesn't respond, let Find A Grave know and they will merge the duplicate into yours. Find A Grave may very well also suspend the other manager.

As you know, Find A Grave has had a process in place for quite some time where they process edit corrections after 21 days. Now they have added to that by adding any bio corrections not made within 21 days. I know because Find A Grave just sent me an e-mail asking for more information on a transfer request I sent via edit correction. They including the following in their e-mail.

"Please note that we have recently have implemented a new editing system which will automatically make the necessary edits or corrections that have been sent as a suggestion for a memorial after 21 days. All of the current suggestions for corrections have been made with in the 21 days. As soon as the 21 days have passed, the system will automatically make the corrections. If there are any edits or corrections to cemetery locations or biography please send them directly to edit@findagrave.com and we will be happy to make the necessary changes."

James Bianco
Esther (Hayward) Warner
I detailed Esther & 1st husband Lewis's bios a bit further and linked her to 2nd husband John Flavel Warner. I have many more photos to add to the memorials I created in Village Hill, somehow I was sidetracked on another project and didn't finish uploading the rest of them. Thanks for your work on this! If any of these people are related I can certainly transfer. Jim

Lyman James
I would appreciate any help with Lyman James, Find A Grave # 41285493. You list him buried at Goshen Center Cemetery, Goshen, MA with no birth date and a death date of 16 Dec 1830. I also find Lyman James, born 23 Mar 1796 in Goshen, MA, died 16 Dec 1830 in Huntsville, AL and buried at Bellefonte Cemetery, Bellefonte, AL under Find A Grave # 20482857 with a headstone. I am trying to figure out if this is the same Lyman James and wondered if you had information that he was buried at Goshen Center Cemetery or if this was a memorial to him. Thanks for your help.

RE: Estimated birth years
I searched the dates not based on the book but on their death records.

RE: Identifying monuments on cemetery map
I used to live in Florence--for 20 years--but have spent the past 8 years in Asheville, NC.

I am looking at the graves closest to Park Street/fence. If you have an email address, I could upload a copy of the pic with the monument circled.
