 | RE: Hadley Cemetery Good to hear that it is progressing well with that project and that there is an established communication with admin. Good work! All the best to you and extend best wishes and thanks to Mr. Hadley. | | | Benjamin L Manifold
 | Hadley Cemetery Hi Claire, I hope the afforts with Hadley Cemetery are bearing fruit. I once again attempted contact with the creator of John Hadley's memorial, not having heard back from the earlier request for change of location. I will wait another month and will then contact Findagrave administration. All the best, Larry. | | | J. Graham
 | Elijah Graham Thank you so much for your photo submissions of Elijah and Rebecca Graham's memorial stones. I am their 3 x's great grandson, and have been researching my family tree on Ancestry.com.
I found an interesting backstory from another member about their headstones:
"Elijah Graham and wife Rebecca Davis Graham were buried at Williams Station, (Atmore, AL.) When the railroad came through Williams Station the cemetery's occupants had to be moved. We don't know where Elijah & Rachel were taken or if they were removed. In the late 1990's some of the Bakers came to Novalee Graham and asked him if he wanted the headstone they had found in the woods. They (or someone) had been using it for a weight on their tractor.
"Novalee cleaned the headstone and put it in his parents' plot at Pine Barren. Nova Lee told me this shortly thereafter."
Anyway, thank you for the work you do.

 | RE: Seven Mile Springs Cemetery (Hadley ) I searched " Hadley Cemetery Sevenmile" some time ago and found a site: "Seven Miles Springs Cemetery - Hadley Society Photo Gallery" that describes the extreme overgrowth and only has a photo of the gate within the bushes. I would advise caution with using that website because after I went to the website I started receiving a lot of spam mail. I would also advise brush loppers and diamondback-proof leggings. I wrote both contributors to change the location to near Blacksher but received no reply from "Jimbobbillyjoe", who I think created the cemetery page. I hope you find it and can get the Findagrave admin to correct the location. My best gps location based on the description in the previous message would be within 50 feet of : Latitude 31.17197860088615 Longitude -87.69796192646027
Best of luck and be safe, Larry | | | Benjamin L Manifold
 | Seven Mile Springs Cemetery (Hadley ) Claire, I could not travel to this cemetery so I am glad that you claimed the photo request. As you probably know, it is not in Summerdale. I have the following info on it. "The Hadley Cemetery Located off Baldwin County, Alabama hiway 61 about 3 1/2 miles south of junction at hiway 59. At the 3 1/2 mile point enter a log road off hiway 61, just south, across the road from Hooper Matthew's barn and small pecan orchard. Go about 150 yards south turning west. Go westerly about 400 yards. Cemetery located on right about 75 feet in woods. As you walk towards the cemetery first are two graves in an iron wrought fence. These are- John Benjamin Hadley, born Dec-04-1853 died Aug-06-1884, the son of John Hadley and Nellie Johnson. The other is the grave in the enclosure is John Benjamin and Sarah Cruit Hadley's infant son. Sarah miscarried when notified at the time of husband's death. North of this enclosure are 7 graves in line facing east. Each marked with a head and foot stone at least 1 foot in length and width. It is evident all the stones came from a same location. The first grave to the (south) has 2 side stones on the south side and at the other grave seventh (north) are 2 more stones to the north side. The fifth grave or center grave- Benjamin (Ben) Hadley's grave born 1760 died 1830. He is the son of Thomas Hadley and Mary Thompson of NC. Ben is the first Hadley to come to this area. At his feet is another large stone. This is where Ben's servant and slave is buried. Next and number four to the south of Ben's grave is a child's grave. Next number three to that grave is Betty Kenderson Hadley, Ben's spouse born 1778 died Mar-10-1825. That leaves 2 adult graves south of Betty and 2 graves north of Ben's. Not known which one is which but one is- Julia Johnson born 1814 died 1844, the spouse of Jesse Hadley. Believed to be the daughter of Isaac Johnson and Susan Bates. The other is- Elizabeth Stewart born Jan-30-1880 died Feb-16-1873, the spouse of James Marion Hadley. The daughter of John P. Stewart and Mary Unknown. The other 2 graves remain unknown but may give some hint as to where Jane Hadley Boon born 1808, daughter of Ben and Mary, may be buried. Another aspect to be considered is it was said Julia Johnson and spouse Jesse Hadley had several children to die when young. The only other remaining solution- which is far fetched but may have been Frederick Hadley that is listed on a Georgia passport that came with Benjamin to the area in the early 1800's Any information about Frederick has never been found since then. John Bruce Dean Sr. 375 Griggers Rd. Frisco City, Al. 36445 "
Hope this is useful to you. Someone sent it to me last year..forgot who. Best wishes, Larry. | | | Anonymous
 | RE: Rogers Graves No problem, I will continue to look for M/M Owens. Unable to locate the graves yesterday. Are there any other family members that could be connected to M/M Owens? Billy | | | Anonymous
 | RE: Rogers Graves No problem, Mattie Sue is one and the other one is the one I was not pleased with the photo. As soon as the rain leaves I will go back and do a little dusting to get a better photo both.Billy | | | | [View all messages...] |
