While searching for my Great Great Grandfather, James Oliver Hewitt, I realized and appreciate the difficultly some of us have in locating our family members and hope I can help someone in their search.

My grandfather lived in northeast Kansas (either Brown or Nemaha County) sometime around 1895 when he loaded a wagon with grain and struck out for St. Joseph, MO, never to be seen again.

He sold the team, wagon and grain and hopped on a train to Fairbury, Nebraska. The trail ends there.

I would enjoy hearing from anyone who may have a similiar story with the Hewitt name.

Fort Leavenworth
Hi, I noticed that you've recently been shooting gravestones in Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery. A couple of us have been working diligently for the past several months trying to get this cemetery completely photographed. Would you be willing to help? We have about 4,000 memorials that still need photos. Please say Yes. Thanks, Mary Ann

Thank you for these photos. They are a great help to my research of the Bugbee family and I really appreciate your time and effort. In fact, there are several Hewitt individuals in my Bugbee family tree. Most are from Vermont, but I know of a Katherine Hewitt (1871 - 1898). She was born in Montgomery, IA and died in Republic, KS. She married William Alvin Bugbee in 1890 and lived in Republic County KS and Madison, WI. (Source - FindAGrave & Census data). Perhaps she is a relative of your family? In any case, good luck with your searches and thanks again for your help. - Allison
