I love "FindAGrave"! It's a wonderful concept. I will be adding more of my family and, hopefully, of others from the cemeteries in this area.

RE: Cynthia M. Stroop -#86220834
Hello there. You're welcome for the flowers. :)

I was just stopping by. I and a few other members have been entering memorials for those that are buried in the Oakland Section that are buried in Mount Royal Cemetery. I just stopped by to leave flowers. There are many that are without markers (many were damaged in the moving process) thus there are many that are unmarked graves. Also, the cemetery doesn't have complete records of all those that were re-interred (I was told about 300 or so).

Have you tried contacting the FIRST TRINITY EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 531 North Neville Street, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15213; Telephone: 412-683-4121? Oakland Cemetery was used solely by the First Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church and "was not a public cemetery up until the sale of the church property in 1962." source Pastor Spittle, September, 2002.

When you call tell them that you are searching for your GGParents/family and want to know if they have any records that they were re-interred at Mount Royal.

I hope this information helps you.

Also, I found death records (not a death certificate) that says Cynthia was born in West Virginia. I will post the screen cap for you to see. I will leave it up to you if you want to change the information. I also found other information that says she was born in Pittsburgh but that was census information so I know it's hard to know what is true and what isn't.

Good luck on your search. When I am visiting the cemetery again, I will look to see if I see any other Stroops.

Furthermore, when I looked for the name Stroop, usually there are always spelling variations because people were creative back then and spelled them what they thought it should be spelled here is a site that talks about the variations of the spelling name of Stroop:

Other spelling variations are:

Good luck in all your findings. Cheers my fellow graver and HAPPY HOLIDAYS! :)

P.S. Here's one more that looked interesting! :)

If you are related. I have an article I found on him. This article is about him being a prisoner of war.

Alonzo Case
Do you have, by any chance, a photo of Alonzo Case? I am putting together biographies of civil war vets who settled on Whidbey Island. I will be happy to give you the credit for the photo.

If you are a descendant of Alonzo Case, and live in Washington State, you may want to plan to visit the Janet Enzmann Archives and Research Library, part of the Island County Historical Society in Coupeville.

Please let me know if you'd like to check the Archives out-- we have some information on Alonzo.

RE: Leyon Batterman Memorial
I will accept the links for the parents. However, if you have an obituary I would gladly add it to the memorial. Even though he lived in Fairfield, NE he might have passed away in Hastings so I am doing some checking to see if I can find the obit.
