Biggest Joys about Findagrave:
--Traveling to cemeteries and photographing grave markers;
--Personal satisfaction when my entries are researched, entered correctly, and nicely presented;
--Discovering burial and genealogy info on my own extended family;
--Helping others in their research; and
--Connecting with other Findagravers.

Biggest Headaches
Lack of self checking of own work by many contributors including:
--duplicates of their own entries,
--duplicates of others' entries,
--last names for babies, unmarried girls, spinsters, & men erroneously entered in Maiden Name field,
--multiple marriage names listed in Last Name field instead of the legal name at time of death,
--common spelling errors in name field,
--mixed case or lower case used in name fields, and
--mid-data entry submissions with only partial data.

Findagrave's Biggest Area for Improvement
We need a "Dupe Checker" utility so we can fix our own errors. Once we get over a few thousand entries, it is very time consuming to page through our own entries looking for dupes. As the database is growing by a million every few weeks, this issue is becoming critical.

The Dupe Checker would have a utility on Contributor Tools so we can double-check our own entries for self-entered duplicates and check our entries against others in the Findagrave database.
--A popup alerting us we've created a dupe or warning us a prior entry already exists would be helpful.
--Each Cemetery Home Page should also have a Dupe Checker to identify duplicates so they can be addressed. (Spreadsheet entry process will now screen out dupes assuming names/dates are the same.)

A Findagrave Improvement Want-to-Have
--The Pulldown menu on the Find-a-County utility needs to list the dominant U.S. cities in every state at the top of the list (i.e. New York, Los Angeles, Denver, Houston, etc.). Most of the population in each state lives in the major cities - hence most deaths occur there too so help us eliminate needless scrolling.

Thanks to all out there who:
--are helpful, enthusiastic, and courteous to other volunteers,
--send me corrections, obits, links, and other information to add to my entries,
--check their own work,
--keep up with edits, corrections, and suggestions from other contributors, and
--provide newspaper or website citations for obits so others can use this info.

PS...I typically respond within 24 hrs to edit requests. If you request a transfer, please explain your relationship. I'll transfer to remote family members as long as I'm not a relative as well, but what are you planning on doing with the entry that I haven't already done?

Family members on my site.
Hi! I am having a problem with my site. I am the creator of my parents and now my Aunt "Mary Frances Ford Tate". I would like to transfer her to my site but don't seem to have a contributor number. Even though I paid. My parents names are Major John Louis Hayes and Sally or Sara Emma Ford Hayes. The listing are all messed up. Sometimes they show up other they don't. Could you send me my contributor number and if I have to pay again I will be glad to. Please let me know what to do? Thank you for your help.
Also my cousin Ruthanne Hayes is listed as a contributor and has both my parents on her site.

Sincerely,
Catherine M Clark daughter "Hayes"

Joseph Arthur George Bilodeau Date of Death
Hi Cori,

I came upon this record from the work you did here on find a grave. Great work! Joseph Arthur George Bilodeau is my great grandfather. The family has NOT known his death of death and location. I see the date you have here matches his cousin who has similar name. Are you able to advise the source of your info for his date of death?

His father, Onesime has a brother named GEORGE Anselme Theodule Bilodeauand. The family moved to Wisconsin. He has a son Arthur George Bilodeau whose birth date is Birth 26 MAR 1883 and date of death 4 MAY 1937 Chetek, Barron, Wisconsin, United States which is the same date you have for my great grandfather.

Thanks for any info you can share on the source.
Best regards
Debbie

Cori, thank you so much for posting this memorial to my nephew. He was such a beautiful little soul. He wanted to be a police officer when he grew up, and he loved going to church. He passed away in Phoenix, I was there when he went, he had an auto-immune disease and his little body just couldn't keep going, but he fought to the end. I'm going to find the last picture I have of him and post it. Also, I am going to find the obit/memorial page I have, would you be willing to post it for me in the biography section? Again, thank you so much.

His Parents are: Johann Georg BOHNET 1844-1936, Magdalena STRAUB 1844-1941; I`m knowing that his wife`s name is Louise, but i have no surname! With friendly regards from Germany Michael Bohnet

congrats!
Congrats Cori for being here 11 years! It was nice to work with a pleasant uncranky person like you! I have read some contributor bios lately and am happy I do not have to communicate with them. This should be a HAPPY PLACE! Keep up the good work. Thanks,
Rosalie from Wenatchee, WA

Thank you
I want to thank you for your work. Without your contribution I would have never found my Grandfathers grave site. He had died in Carson City, Nevada and I couldn't find it there after he died.
But it was only logical that he would be buried in Mammoth, AZ after living there for so many years of his life. I have sent u a request to update the information that you had posted originally. Also, I added the only photo I had of him from years ago. My family thanks you. And I am encouraged by your work to do the same in return for others that may be looking for loved one.
Thanks again and may God Bless You !!!

Thanks!
Corolla, thank you for your tedious work with the Crown Hill memorials! It is much appreciated by many, and there's darned near no recognition of all of the work that you're doing. Just want to say thanks!
