RE: John Ramey
I am sure there are family relatives who would love to see John Ramey have a VA marker, and there surely must be someone or some organization that could help with the placement. I know that just within the past year a group had a Civil War marker placed on the grave of Lemuel Fox, and he is in a small wooded cemetery in Front Royal. It was quite a celebration, and made front page news in the Northern Virginia Daily. Surely there must be an organization or group that would do this for other veterans. I will see what I can find out with regard to that. Do you live in the area?

RE: John Ramey
Hi --
Unfortunately, to my knowledge, there is no one in charge of Ramey Cemetery. I don't live in that area, and I have not been to the cemetery recently. Several years ago I was in touch with Chuck Pomeroy of Front Royal, and because he had ancestors buried in Ramey Cemetery, he was very interested in cleaning up the cemetery. I told him I would help with the paperwork, etc., if he could take care of lining up people to help out. A number of people with relatives buried there made financial contributions to help cover the expense. Trees were taken down and ground into mulch to make some pathways, and the cemetery looked very nice for the first time in many years. Then Mr. Pomeroy became terminally ill, and no one seems to have taken an interest in maintaining the cemetery since that time.

I have copies of some records that Mr. Pomeroy had on the cemetery if you are interested in anything like that. I would like to contact some officials in Front Royal about someone taking care of the cemetery, but I'm not sure where to start. And since it is probably classified as a private cemetery, I don't know that it would do any good.

Straitiff is not in my index. I do not believe I have ever heard of the name.

Carole Cole
Thank you for the info on Carole Cole. I had suspected she was buried at Forest Lawn Glendale like her parents and brother, but had no evidence of it. Thanks again!

RE: The Glenn Family
No, I'm afraid I don't. I only know that Minnie Thompson married William R. Glenn at some point and their daughter is Mundiana Glenn who married Guy Victor. I haven't been able to find much on this part of the family.

Dell Hickle
Hello Brett, I was just wondering about the father you have listed for Dell Hickle #9100868. His mother Sarah is my 2nd gr grandmother. Her father is Ethelbert Hickle & im trying to figure out the Ethelbert Hickle you have for Dell's father. I was told by my grandmother that Dell was illegitimate son of Sarah, she was only 17 when she had him, & that her parents, Ethelbert & Elizabeth, raised him. She married my 2nd gr grandfather, John Leisure Bircher, 2 years later in 1882 after Dell was born. The Ethelbert that is listed as his father I guess is what im wondering about. How do you know this is his father? He is about 40 years older than Sarah & would have been abt 53 when Dell was conceived. Im just trying to figure out the confusion because if you only look at names, it seems as though Sarah had a son with her own father. Any help on this would be appreciated. Cheryl
