I love working on genealogy and since North Carolina has their Death Certificate information online now, its fun filling in the blanks. Thanks for your reply. I just checked the profile page for him in Ancestry in my Tree and I show a date of birth of 6 Jan 1841 with U.S. Veterans Gravesites, ca.1775-2006 about George W Hood being the source. See: http://gravelocator.cem.va.gov/j2ee/servlet/NGL_v1/ So you might want to add his DOB. Unfortunately that source shows him being buried at: Laurel Grove North Cemetery, 802 West Anderson Street Savannah, GA 31401. I have a cousin who lives in Savannah. He went to that cemetery and searched and has been told that he is not in that cemetery!!!! So I do not know if you want to post a side-note that shows the source saying he is buried there but that he is not showing in those cemetery records as being there. I did not know how else to follow up on it. I tried to check a Laurel Grove cemetery in another state (maybe PA) to see if it could have been there but had no luck there either. I cannot remember if I tried to contact the V.A. They are so hard to get hold of to even find the correct department/person to call.
Would you send me a personal e-mail. I would like to get more details on your Hood family line. We are probably distant cousins. I also have some additional websites on G.W. Hood if you are interested in them.
