Thanks for the new info, Bruce. Bill S.
|Deb||Ethel Olson in Mt. Moriah|
While taking the photo of Ethel's stone today, I also took two others which were nearby. They were Willard and Herman Olson, which by the dates, I assume were brothers/husband of Ethel. If you will create memorials for them, I will be glad to attach the photos. Let me know.

I've been busy this past year but I hope to finish documenting the cemetery as well as updating any new stones that have been added. I am glad that my effort is appreciated. :-)

Good news! I decided to recheck the cemetery, and DID find a monument for the Fristoes. (I had misread the cemetery map.) I'll post the photos shortly.

Good morning! I accepted your photo request for John and Barsheba Fristoe, Lee's Summit Historical Cemetery. I checked the cemetery yesterday, and their graves do not have stones. I did take a photo of the space and can post it if you like. Just let me know.
|Crystal H||RE: J.B.Wertz of Quinter Wertz|
Here are a couple of snippets from a life story that my grandma put in my family history book, written by Leona Turner. I have the entire story if you would like it, especially more for context. It is about the life of John Ikenberry so I just took the parts that had the Wertz name in them. I went to a few family reunions in Quinter, my grandma was Mildred Earley. Grandma Earley tried so hard to get me to understand family stuff and always took me around to meet everyone at the family reunions at The Q, but sadly I don't remember much. I think I was still at the age that I didn't care about family history much and just wanted to go play. Now I wish that I had her to talk to about all of this.
"Rapid immigration made possible the organization of a church that same year. The members met in Baker's hotel in August, 1886, and organized the Church of the Brethren. Grandpa John was chosen the first elder in charge. Other elders were J.B. Wertz (Lilly Bailey and Howard and George Wertz grandfather), Ben Whitmer, Isaac Studebaker (Dan Crist's stepfather).
Soon a brick school building was built. This was the 2 story school building where later many of you and I attended school. Some of the first scholars were Ed and Anna (Coburn) Feiler; Sadie (Whitmer) and Etta (Reinecher) Hiddleson; Ben and Martha (Whisler) Ikenberry; Joel and Susie (Stanley) Ikenberry; Martha (Wertz) Roesch; Orval Lahman (Ralph Lakman's father); Moses, Joe and Mamie Trimmer (brother and sister of Kent Trimmer); A McElroy girl. Sam Long (Uncle of Della Turner, Chet Long and Allene Huxman), Seville (Wolf) Long (mother of Caroline Flora and Edna Boone), June McElroy, 2 Lahman girls- Rena and Vina- and Lottie Cline were in the upper grades, upstairs."

There is a duplicate of this memorial, find a grave rules say yours is first.
you need to copy the family links before the later one is deleted.

If you are related to J.B. Wertz (that was the grandfather of Lilly Bailey, Howard and George Wertz) from Gove Co., I have a story that had a bit of information about your ancestors. Not much, just a history in the late 1800's type of story.
