Augustus King Cutting, Jr.
Greetings! Augustus King Cutting, SENIOR was married to Catherine Stansbury Donovan Cutting in 1869. They had 3 daughters (Mattie Maude Cutting Burton was my great-grandmother & I knew her well. She died when I was 12 years old.) and 1 son Augustus King Cutting, JUNIOR.
Catherine was always called "Kate". Kate & A.K. (Augustus, SENIOR went by "A.K. Cutting and was quite infamous & influential in forming Mexico-U.S. relations) were divorced by 1886. Then Kate married Sterling Matson in Nov 1886. She is found in several census: 1895 & 1905 Kansas Census & 1900 US Fed Census as "Kate Matson" and she's living with one of her daughters (daughter Ora Belle Cutting, in Paola, KS in 1895 & 1900; Kate is with my great-grandmother Maude Cutting Burton - and my grandmother Mildred Burton, in 1905 Census). Kate Matson died in 1906 and is buried in Paola, KS.
I have a copy of Augustus King Cutting JUNIORs death certificate & I know it says "Kate Dawson, but his mother's name is actually Kate MATSON.
