Bio and Links
Bio Photo I live in Northern Indiana and am very interested in the Civil War. One of my hobbies is to visit the graves of Indiana Civil War Soldiers. To date my dad and I have visited over 1,860 cemeteries and have found the gravesites of over 36,400 Indiana Soldiers, as well as some 8,400 soldiers from states other than Indiana. We have also located the gravesites of over 1,700 Confederate soldiers buried in the Hoosier state. I am also trying to find the gravesites of all of Indiana's Civil War Colonels. I am also interested in the 8th Indiana Infantry, Company I, and the 12th Indiana Infantry. I am also looking for every Chaplain that served in an Indiana Regiment in the Civil War. If you know of any gravesites you think I may have missed, or have some interesting information, don't hesitate to contact me. I am also working on a book about Indiana's soldiers that died during the Civil War. Any help would be appreciated. Also, if you are looking for a Hoosier that served in the civil war send me an e-mail and I'll see if I can help in any way. Currently, I'm also trying to locate every Civil War veteran in Kosciusko County, Indiana, and upload them to Find-A-Grave. I am also a Christian, and look forward to life after the grave. Thanks.

FRANCIS LOCKWOOD - #44358984
Eric, I have added the Civil War info to his bio. You can delete the info from the virtual flower section. Anytime you have info to add, please send it to me instead of adding it to the virtual flower section and I will add it to the person's bio.

Thanks!

John Somervill
Hi Eric, I was reading a book by Sharon Carmack called "Your guide to cemetery research" and came across a photo on page 104 showing a headstone for John Somervill, Pvt, Co.A, 25th Indiana Infantry. He is buried in Evergreen Cem. in Colorado Springs, CO. His Findagrve memorial is # 23649841 (the memorial has a photo also).

Martin Thomas
Since there was no record of him in the Old Winchester (Heaston) cemetery, I looked for him at Fountain Park where many graves were moved to. I found a soldier by the name of Martin Thomas died in 1863. Could this be the same one?

Pvt Andrew J Phebus memorial 33688996
Hello Eric

Andrew, his wife Sarah Strieby Phebus & at least 2 children (Mariah & Martin Phebus) are buried in George Mock Cemetery.

Hoby (findagrave member 47183125) took the picture of the memorial stone which is in a tree there

Mock Cemetery (Tippecanoe Twp, Kosciusko Co,IN) is a small family cemetery began by the John Mock Sr, a son of Johann "Hans" George Mock "Mack" aka Soldier George & his wife.

George Mock Cemetery (Turkey Creek Twp, Kosciusko Co,IN) is an even smaller family cemetery began by "George" John George Mock, also a son of Johann "Hans" George Mock "Mack" aka Soldier George & his wife.

The 2 cemeteries are in the same county.

Please update the cemetery for Andrew. It is not too hard to do & if you need help, I could walk you through.

I am a distant relative of Andrew's wife Sarah Strieby Phebus.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Yours
Linda K

RE: Benjamin Hays
You are very welcome! There is a center headstone I will be adding plus the other family members in that plot if you are interested. He was hiding in plain site. I've looked and looked for him!

Thank you
Hello Eric,
I sincerely appreciate the transfer of John Henry Stewart's memorial. I have it updated with his family members I have been able to find memorials for, and also added his military history which I found in the book, Centennial History of Grant County Indiana, along with his history as I was able to piece together. It is quite interesting (and long!) if you are interested in reading it. :) With sincere appreciation,
Sam
