Bio and Links
Bio Photo The attached photo is from 411 N. Wilmington St. Raleigh NC, my mother's childhood home. A home which no longer exists along with many others in the surrounding area between Peace College and the State Capitol.

I have a interest in Wake Co genealogy researching primarily family connections here for the last 5 years. My surnames include Carver, Gill, John Davis d Aug 1829, Dunn, High, Horn, Moring, and Taylor(Nash Co) maternal line.

Surnames in Rockingham and Caswell Co include Alcorn AKA Alcon,Betts,Fitzgerald,Mills,Nunnally,Powell,Robertson,Stubblefield paternal line and so many more families with ties to these counties and beyond.

A resident of Somerset Co, NJ for 28 years.

I've posted many photos from the NC yearbook collection which are available on at line at The vast majority of photos I have used are from 1930 and earlier yearbooks. After contacting several schools over the use of these photos and copyright law, I have been told as long as I'm not profiting from them and have listed the source, I'm in compliance with the law under the guideline of fair use. As of early 2012 and ancestry including yearbooks on their website, the issue of photos and copyright issues would appear to be a mute point. If a family member wishes me to remove any photo I have posted, just let me know.

Most memorials I have added are to Oakwood & Montlawn. Genealogy is my first love. I enjoy finding the elusive badly transcribed records that help document a family. I think the 1940 Wake census may be the worst yet. As of Oct 2014, I can identify 4800+ individuals in my extended tree that are buried at Oakwood, 2900+ at Montlawn with a total database of 75,600+. Any memorial I add will based on a combination of death, census and Oakwood records. The memorial's and photo's I add are done so with much respect to that individual, their family and the history of North Carolina. I try to link memorials or add other details that may be useful to someone's research. The majority of the memorials will be part of my Wake County "Six Degrees of Separation" Tree. Visits to Oakwood in Aug 2012 & Aug 2013 to take photos.

My findagrave wish list would be a paper scroll symbol to signify there is a paper document which would leave the portrait symbol for actual pictures of people.

I do like to link and if I have not, it is just an oversight on my part. Thanks to all that help with my suggestions/requests and the new edit feature which makes that so much easier now.

My memorials are frequently revisited and updated especially since finding additional records at which ancestry does not have. These records are available to all researchers. Their records include death certificates 1931-1994 and a marriage collection thru 1979. May I respectfully suggest, anyone posting current deaths without a birthdate revisit your memorials and get the birthdate from the social security index which is also available on

PLEASE refrain from death certficates on my memorials. It should not be necessary in most cases.

It has recently come to my attention the GPS location for individuals buried at Oakwood can be found in the recently updated database. Find your individual within the official Oakwood database and then click on Map. If you're requesting a photo for any of my memorial's at Oakwood let me know and I will update the location.

If you add an obituary clipping to any of my memorial's, please let me know. It may contain information I do not have.

Well --What am I going to do with you??? Always helping and sending info for memorials!! When I come back to Raleigh in the spring we have to meet --- I don't believe I have any more Montlawn photos that I haven't entered, so I'm "turning" it over to you since you are most likely still stumbling across those lawns, fighting the geese and must be getting sick of the place!!! Thanks, I owe you a lunch!!

I received a message regarding the info about the bio concerning my Grandmother Padgett..the info you refer to the difference in names..well, I was surprised when I saw it seems that while pulling up the birth certificates of my aunts and uncles ( her children )and my father, I saw where her name was listed different on 3 of them..also I saw where my Grandfather (Simmie James Padgett) was also listed at different places as S.James snd James . It depended on who was doing the writing. I discovered the same thing while pulling up old census records. I hope I have answered your question on the matter. I do not mind a bit.

RE: Frances Stephenson Moody

Yes it is the same Clyde Moody the famous musician. I wish I could tell you that he was not married to two women at the same time. However he was. He had a double life, Frances had moved to Nashville where they were married in Williamson County there is a marriage license dated April 12, 1941. They maintained a home here on Woodland street during that time through 1946. I suspect it was easy for him since he was a traveling musician. It is one of those "skeletons" in the closet. My mother in law, daughter of Clyde and Frances was just as shocked to learn that.

I see you have my grandmother in-law listed as the wife of Fred Wilson Sherron and married to to Clyde Thomas Moody jr. That is incorrect, she was married to Clyde Leonard Moody. I am unaware if she was married to Mr. Sherron as she married my grandfather in-law when she was 20. Who knows though, mysterys and family cover ups seem to come out in geneology.

RE: Castleberry family
Thank you on behalf of our family. Mr Claybourne passed away when my dad was 7 and he couldn't remember what cemetery or where he was located in the cemetery. Thanks to your work I contacted Raleigh Memorial Park and they've agreed to take me directly to his resting place so thanks for reuniting my dad with his father after 43yrs.

His memorial # is 131909084 this was my grandfather although I never had the pleasure of meeting him as he passed when my father was 7 almost 8yrs old of a brain aneurysm. I was curious to see if you had any other information. My father was sheltered by his mother Florence Gargis after he passed and doesn't know any of his fathers family like Fletcher Letcher or Archie's children. I would also like to thank you for all of your work my dad never even knew his grandparents names until I found this tonight!!! Thank you for any other help you can give me or point me in the direction to find.

Thank you for your email. It seems I have made a mess in creating her memorial. I don't know what happened, I am usually quite thorough. To start I will unlink the wrong father and see what other mistakes I need to correct. Thanks for the heads-up.
