Bio Photo I enjoy going to the cemeteries and looking for gravestones of my family and looking for requests for other people. It makes me sad to see some stones in bad shape and some cemeteries so overgrown with weeds and not taken care of. I work full time, but I try to get to the cemeteries on my days off when I can. I spend many hours looking for other members requests. I don't do it just to get the credit for a request, I have added more photos to memorials than what shows on my credit for doing requests. I really enjoy looking for the gravestones and it is very relaxing to me. I love the old cemeteries, but alot of the gravestones are very old and in bad shape. There is alot of information you can find out from a gravestone.

Note: The Dement Cemetery in Ohio County, WV is a very old cemetery located on private property. Many of the stones are very difficult to read and some dates may not be exactly right. Let me know of any corrections.

I'm currently working on the Dallas Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Dallas, WV in Marshall County. This is another old cemetery with many old stones. Some of the names and dates may not be correct. Many of stones are difficult to read. Let me know of any corrections. I have found many gravestones of people that are not on the list in the cemetery books at the library or some with the names not correct. Peace to all!

RE: Sandhill Cem. in WV
Thank you very much. I have a real good idea where it is now because I drive a dump truck that has been delivering out there. I just never put two and two together. Thank you very much for all your help. Tom

RE: Riverview
I noticed in a few places in Mt. Zion are grown over. It also looks as though there have been a couple of slips on the hillside. I figured there was a good chance that more stones are under that mess. It appeared to be a small graveyard and it's on my way to my kids school. Just something to get my feet wet. Thank you for all your help! ~*~Ashley~*~

RE: Riverview
Yes, I will spend a little more time at Riverview now that I know people have requests there as well.

What do you think about the pending requests for Mt Zion? You are obviously more familiar with that cemetery than I am and you are more experienced with cemetery searches. Is it common to have requests that just cannot be found?

RE: Sandhill Cem. in WV
No, I still need directions to the Sand Hill Cemetery in WV. We have a Sand Hill Cemetery in Garrison, Pa but I can not find the one in WV. If you could give me directions, it would be greatly appreciated as I've been trying to find it so I can fulfill some photo requests. Thank You. Tom

It's not hard to find. There's a house at the bottom of the hill and then nothing else until you get to the graveyard. It's immaculate. I'm very grateful for the care they put in.

I think there are markers. I do not know for sure though.

RE: Mt Zion
My entire family is buried in Riverview. I went up for Momma's birthday.

Go south on Rt. 2. You'll pass the state police, a motel and a bar, Nicks Lounge (it looks like a log cabin). Make a left, turning off of route 2. Go straight up Round Bottom Hill. DO NOT turn left to go behind Nicks lounge (that is Roberts ridge and will lead you out to fish creek). You'll go up a windy road with a sharp (almost 180) turn to the left and then another sharp turn to the right. As soon as you make this turn, you will see the fence for the graveyard. It will be on your right.

Mt Zion
This is a tricky cemetery. I definitely underestimated it. I have hedge clippers that will hopefully do the job! I was not planning on working the hillside that day. I was in capris and a tank top. While walking around, I decided just to go up and photograph the stones around the fallen tree before spring growth occurs. That's when I found the stones behind the tree. I will get that cleaned up enough to access it.

I have an old soul. Seeing a graveyard in that condition saddens me. It's disrespectful to have all those weeds creeping in on the cemetery and consuming gravestones in the process.

Carla, I thought the same thing about the other Charles Anderson, who is also buried in this cemetery. He died in 1967 whereas the one you photographed died in 1968. I checked with the Coffelt Database, which lists all those killed in Vietnam. There is, in fact, 2 of them. If you are ever again in this cemetery, could you also fill my request for the one we do not have, #111401626. I would really appreciate it. Also, thanks for adding the photos to the father's site.

Thank you so much for posting this photo. Sorry I am late in thanking you but just realized it was posted. I made a memorial for his father, Charles E. Anderson, Sr. #127908928. Would you be able to post the photo of his stone on his site. I think by cropping you could get an individual one of his and also add the larger stone that you put on his sons. I would certainly appreciate it.
