Hi Y'all. I'm a Central Pennsylvania native living in Eastern Georgia. I'm tracking down and documenting family names including Daugherty, Sprunger, Amstutz, Updegraff (and its variations Updegrave, Uptagrafft, Updegrove, etc.). I'm also interested in family names Antes, Bixler, Bressler, Coffee, Ferree, Gillinger, Habegger, Herr, Kendig, Logan, Pennington, Rothlischberger, Williams. |
I'm part of the great Pennsylvania melting pot, a descendant of Scotch-Irish, Swiss Mennonite, French Huguenots, Moravians, English, German, and Welsh ancestors. The "huddled masses yearning to breathe free."
I'm also looking for my wife's family including Devaney, Hayman, Holley, Leffler, Ricketson, Robertson, Seiter, Street, Tuemler, Williams.
I'm trying to photograph as much as possible, and create an accurate, historical record. I'll be glad to transfer non-family members. I've enjoyed getting to know my extended family members through Findagrave.
Please visit my famous relatives:

I see you have the marker for Harold and Rebecca Dunkerly. Do you know anything about them and who they are related to?
My grandmother is a Dunkerly and I am in the thick of things, but can't find the above.
|Mark Weitzel||Laura A. Herr|
Bill, I was at Longenecker and photographed several headstones. I think the existing memorial for Laura Amanda Herr may be a different Laura? I took a photo of the headstone right next to Martha and John F. Herr which shows, "Laura A. Herr, April 6, 1853-Nov 3, 1933". It sure looks to me like this is the true daughter of John and Martha? I am not sure what you would like to do? I will send you the photo if you would like. Thanks! Mark Weitzel

You're very welcome. Glad I could help.
|Doris Hartman||Joseph Daughtery|
You have a photo request for Joseph Daughtery (#32941735) at Franklin Cemetery. According to cemetery records, he is buried in the free ground section and has no marker.

Hi again, Bill!
I can tell by the date of death that this Sarah Williams is my Great-great-grandmother. She was born on 28 April 1854 in Breconshire, Wales, and is the mother of David John Williams, #145186759.

I have a couple of "Williams" connections.
Here is what I know about Rachel's husband, my great-grandfather David John Williams. David was born in 1875 in Wales. I'm not sure where. The family story is that his birth surname was "Hughes", his father was a sailor, and drowned when David and his sister Janet were very young. David's mother, Sarah, then married a man named William Williams, who adopted David and Janet. William had a son from his first marriage, William Jr. I've seen documents indicating that Sarah's maiden name was also "Williams", so she may have been related to her second husband. Both William and Sarah were born in Breconshire, Wales, which is just west of Monmouthshire, where Risca is located. In 1888, a year after they were married, William, Sarah and their children moved from Wales to Pennsylvania. I believe they already had relatives located there. After moving to Pennsylvania, William and Sarah had another son, Garfield. My great-grandparents Rachel and David had 14 children. David's sister Janet married a man named William Pugh and had 2 daughters. Neither of David's brothers had any children.
I also have a "Williams" line on my father's side, my 5th great-grandfather Richard Williams (1730-1812). I believe that original family name was "Wilhelm" and Richard was part of a group of Swiss Mennonites that settled in what would become Somerset County, PA, around the time of the French and Indian War.
And my paternal grandmother, Sylvia Betts, after she divorced my grandfather Ralph Morrison, married a man named Lloyd "Butch" Williams around 1940. He owned a garage in Somerset, PA, and I don't think he was connected to either of my other Williams family lines.
So - we may be related on the Welsh Williams line, but I can't connect the dots!

Hi, Bill. Rachel Williams was my maternal great-grandmother. She died when I was 8 years old, and I remember her well. Her maiden name was Hayes, and although her parents were English, she was actually born on 17 April 1877 in Risca, Monmouthshire, Wales. She and her husband, David John Williams, had 14 children. Would you be willing to transfer her memorial to me? Thanks! Deborah
|Wendy A Bonham||Anna May Daugherty Steele|
Bill - I'm so excited to see my grandparents burial information on the site. Thank you. I will work on memorials for them. I also still have some picks of your dad I could send. Not sure how I would do that.
I noticed that one of the siblings of Lynn and Ida's is missing. Her name is Anna May Daugherty Steele. She was born December 19, 1882. She married Charles R. Steele in 1911 and died on September 28, 1950. She is buried at Sylvania Hills, Rochester, Pennsylvania according to her death certificate which I have in my possession. I verified that she is buried there - there is another memorial with a great picture of she and her husband made by someone else. I also saw a memorial page for her with your name attached but she is not listed as one of the siblings or children of Albert and Catherine. I have quite a few pictures of this family too. My mom kept great photo albums - many of the pictures are identified but unfortunately - there are also many that are not.

All of the Steele Family members have had their photos uploaded. I just hope we didn't miss anyone. Enjoy and good luck with your research. Pat

Finally - 3 years later - I found them. I posted the information using the "edit" tab on their page. They are at Nassau Knolls Memorial Cemetery in Nassau County New York. I am ecstatic to have found them - I spent lots of time looking. No one that I know of, is living who would have known where they are.
