I have been interested in both genealogy and history, and specifically Civil War history, for some time now. Since February 2000, I have maintained a web site dedicated to the 42nd Indiana Volunteer Infantry. Since that time I have been documenting all known gravesites of these veterans. It is my hope, at least in a small way, that this work will bring honor to those veterans who have risked so much to preserve our freedoms.|
I am also a member of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War (SUVCW), Ben Harrison Camp # 356 in Indianapolis, IN. Our organization honors all veterans, and specifically Union Civil War Veterans. The SUVCW actively participates in the replacement or cleaning/repair of Civil War veteran's gravestones. To learn more please visit our camp web site: Ben Harrison Camp-SUVCW
Starting in 2006, I began learning about proper cemetery restoration techniques. Since then I have successfully cleaned and restored many gravestones.

Thank you for your correction. I have added info and also sent a email to Find A Grave to have his memorial marked as a Cenotaph to yours. Thank You again and,

It was explained to me that the original burial took place in the City Cemetery and he was moved to the national cemetery. I was given a link for that you might find interesting - http://www.bonps.org/natlcem/natlcem.htm. I have emailed Find A Grave to merge the memorials into the older one so the volunteer photo will remain.

Hi- I received you SAC and did some more research. Turns out that there were two William Cannons at Nashville, 125752774 and 114942630. I have requested a photo for the newest entry. Not sure if you SAC still applies. Please let me know. Thank-you.

Thank you so much for the work you're doing for findagrave.
In the future pls limit your requests. I've received approximately 10 from you in less than a week. Pls space your requests out in the future.

Hi Tim -
I noticed what you were trying to do by locating all of the soldiers for this regiment. I've found some records for burials. I hope you don't mind, but I'll send them via your e-mail.

He was not a Civil War Vet. His date of birth is 1 Jul 1893 in Crawfordsville, Indiana, USA.
